Large Game Pics - Deer, Moose, Bear...

HAHA!!
borrowed Hornhead's Cherokee one year to go get a sump pump for the boat , and shot a deer on the way to town.
Alberta at the shop mentioned it was a bit warm to be throwing a deer in the back of a Cherokee.
"nah, it's all good- it's not my jeep!!";);)

You might of cut the lower part of the legs off so you could close the passenger window in the back. Might be a little warmer of a drive back home. If you were worried about offending someone you might of put a hat on the elk and just said it was a drunk uncle you were taking home from the bar. Lol

This guy showed up where Dad and I got our last Moose together.
Like right where we stopped to shoot .
Kinda like it was guided there for me (Thanks Dad ) :)

It stood there about 40 yards straight in the block ...looking straight at me.
I shot it between the eyes
Thought oh crap its gone....
But nope it just went straight down :)

finally....

I have been hunting all weekends and weekday evenings since October 1st and had not been able to bag a deer.

I have had about 15 deer within 100 yards and I have been within 15 feet of about 6 different deer, but never had a good shot - either deer was facing

me, not letting me draw/have a good shot, or was behind cover/brush, where I wouldnt risk shooting with a bow. Spent a week near Sault St. Marie for

rifle season - never saw a single deer.

2 Weeks ago, I took a shot at a doe with my bow - good hit, great blood trail but no deer. It went into a standing cornfield, and the trail vanished

Never ended up finding it. I spent 6 hours that day looking, and about 6 more on the following day with the wife and kids . - no luck. I couldnt sleep for a couple days as a

result.

The controlled hunt started in my area on Monday, and 20 minutes after shooting time, I saw the white flag about 200 yards away, but was heading in the wrong direction. The ground was damp, so I could walk pretty quietly. I managed to get within 50 yards, and was presented with a good broadside shot. Hit him right in the shoulder. He dropped instantly. I then proceeded to do my victory dance.

I was about 2.5k from the nearest road, so it was a long haul back to the car. Took me 2.5 hours to get it dressed and into the trailer. I was hunting solo, and came to the realization that hauling a deer out of the woods is not a 1 man job. My back still hurts.

Gun is a 20ga h&r ultraslug with a leupold ultimate slam 3x9 Ammo used was federal blue box, 2 3/4" 383 grain HP

After field dressing, I found that the bullet hit him right in the heart after breaking the shoulder. There was not much left of the heart.

Here's my bear from earlier in the year. Zapped him at 20 yards and the skull measured at just under 18 inches. He was my first big game with a bow, my first bear, and the first critter I took off my own land.

Late season buck, poor picture though, I am not one to take pictures, ever, but I am trying to start!! I'll take some more pics before I send out the rack and cape to the taxidermist. He was facing me at about 100 yards so I shot him in the heart with my triple duece, he ran about 30 feet and dropped.

You can't tell from this picture, but his main beams make a complete circle.

Thanks, I have taken a small doe before but I am usually away with work during deer season. Whats even more lucky is I took him in the spine with my 30-06 and he didn't move an inch. I couldn't believe it on my walk out, after a day of seeing nothing, he was just standing there broadside to me somewhere between 100-150m away. Didn't even move as I took the shot standing, using my arm as a rest on a tree. He fell like a sheet of plywood caught in the wind.

Almost killed me dragging him to the truck, he easily weighted twice as much as I do. I had a hand from my buddy (who was almost more excited then I was) But I wish the tailgate was about 2 feet lower to the ground haha.
