I search-failed an answer for this but is it possible to put a choke in these?

Anyone done it, barrel thick enough for it?, cost etc.

I have one of the latest batch with the metal trigger guards, I love it but admittingly am failing at the urge to screw with it!:p

Just wondering........:

I have to disagree. Remington factory Remchoke barrels are .890" at the choke end. My Grizzly barrel was exactly 890" also. It's at Tac Ord right now getting Remchoke threading.

Should be no problem with the current batch where my barrel came from.

Maybe they were thinner walled in the past?

According to casey, to install ANY model of choke, it needs to be over .840" in diameter at the muzzle.

Can I ask what that's costing to have it threaded? My ghost ring 12.5 does not have threads. I actually enjoy popping clays with it, so a moderate choke would be nice.

must be a new thing, ive never seen one over .865
case has a bunch of options so if he says a rem will fit then all good, he will as will any gun smith size up each bbl to make sure there is enough meat.

I like tight patterns when using cheap target loads at close range, so I was glad I found a choked 12.5" DA barrel.

I should mention, mine is a bead sight barrel, not a ghost ring, so possibly a different diameter.

Here's a pic from just before I sent it off. This is actually a lot of barrel meat for a cylinder bore shorty.

I debated machining it myself, but then I realized I could have casey do FIVE of these foe me before it would outweigh the cost of the tooling I'm missing in the shop... lol.

Thanks for the info, awesome I have some options to drop one in, adds a little more flexibility...I can have a metal trigger guard AND a choke :)

Looks like the barrels vary wildly in their finished dimensions.
I have checked a few and all were under the min size for choke threading

Eyes can be deceiving. Do you have a vernier caliper? Like in your reloading gear?

Yours is definitely from a different import judging by the mag cap.

Update: Casey just phoned, the rem chokes worked out great and the shotgun will ship back to me Monday. I'll post pics when it gets here for those interested. They had to do some extra work as there is not enough thickness left over to reliably hold the OEM bead sight, so they install a remington bead base (like in a factory Remington 14" barrel).

Otherwise, piece of cake. As mentioned though, my barrel measured an actual 0.890" outer diameter at the muzzle.
