SilverDale Gun Range

whats the 80$ ATT course for?

You take the course then do 4 supervised shoots with an RSO to ensure your not a safety hazard, then they file for an ATT in your name. While I understand the supervised shoots, the course itself should be rolled into the RPAL course IMHO but I'm sure the CFO would poo poo on that.

IIRC
Shoot 1 22lr handgun
Shoot 2 9mm handgun
Shoot 3 22lr or 9mm with cease fire, make safe and jam clearing drills
Shoot 4 is a revolver shoot in whatever caliber the RSO doing the shoot has on hand.

They can only be done 1 shoot per day, sucks for those of you coming from a distance. Ammo was provided for the first one, after that you supply the ammo. Also when I did it we were told not to buy ammo until you know for sure what your shooting, this mainly applies to the revolver since it was either .22, .38 or .357 depending on who was on hand.

It's an Ontario/Quebec thing I believe.

3 Clubs I have been involved with all do it anyways...

Basically they won't apply for your ATT till you go through it, and the probabtion. And yes in Ontario the club applies for your ATT, not you.

I might there on Sat to do some shooting. Seems like the warmest day of the week. Buddy of mine is doing the ATT club course tomorrow.

How busy are the walk-on days currently (before the warm weather comes). I'm looking to try out some range shooting for the first time, but I'd rather it not be too busy. Would like to have someone with experience on hand for the first bit to show me around and get me setup. If all is good then I'd def. sign up for a membership :)

I've been with a buddy on a Saturday around lunch to shoot some trap and it wasnt to busy, At least the trap range wasnt. It was sometime in November and it was cold as sh*t. i say if you go on a cold day you should be good.

Great thanks, have my new target gun on the way so hopefully this weekend or next I'll go out.

Sounds like a pretty crazy place though, but after some research, doesn't look like there's many places down here that you can go shoot a 22 rifle for example without having to have your restricted license. Kind of a bummer for some of those indoor ranges that require it. Thinking about challenging the test, but other than the ranges... I have no use for the restricted.

I went here at the beginning of November to get the scope on my 30-06 zeroed for deer season. Nice facility. It was busy but never waited for a bench. And it was only 20 bucks for the day. But it was really cold so i got my work done and got the heck out of there lol. 6 shots and i was ready to go. Had a successful hunt to boot :)

Anyone know if there are hooks in the bunker on the 200yrd range to hang a small gong? I bought a small 4" AR500 gong from a CGNer and figured that would be a bit more challenging to shoot than that huge square one that's in there now. :p

Best to ask the club....they'll know right off if there's hooks to hang one beside the fixed one that's there now, and they'll be the ones to say Yay/Nay if you can hang your own.

very busy on the weekend during the warmer months, I have mixed reviews about the RSO's but in their defence they seem to hand out (in my own opinion) to many day passes and groupon passes, and I think (again just an opinion) that puts alot of pressure on them to make sure everyone is behaving themselves. One time I was there and there was a group with day passes, this woman was shooting a pistol like a maniac and no word of a lie was laughing like a maniac, few minutes later I was shooting my 10/22 and was coming close to the 3 seconds between shots (making a 1" hole at least 10' below the top of the berm) and was given a warning that I would have my membership suspended. they are building more ranges to keep the newbies segregated and i think that will help. definitely the best deal in this part of the world.

Hey folks! Been hearing alot about this club, do we have any ipsc shooters here? I shoot ipsc and 3 gun and was womdering if the ranges are decent size to practice on for AR and pistol. If anyone has any good info to pass on that would be awesome.
Thankyou!
