Franchi 48 AL 20 gauge.

Thats a beautiful collection 1963beretta, my 48 al doesn't compare to those, its in good condition, but the factory finish isn't done that well. Thanks for sharing yours.

Thank you for the compliment. I unfortunately let some other nice ones go. I actually just shipped off a 48 Dynamic 12 earlier in the week. It was a rare model designed to be a magnum 2 3/4" gun. It was made with a steel receiver like the Auto 5 and was substantially heavier then the alloy framed guns. Im now full of regret the second the package was dropped off at the post office

If its a 1964 date of manufacture it will have the Roman numbers XX stamped at the bottom of the receiver. If thats not what stamped use this for reference

I had one in 20 gauge and it was a nice light gun. Worked great and was nice to carry. A good friend wanted a light 20 for his daughter that was just getting into hunting so it moved on. She loves it. I would buy another if I was looking for another semi.

I bought it off the EE about 3 yrs ago. Came out of Ontario if I remember correctly. Guy bought a bunch of guns in an estate and was selling them.
I will keep you in mind if I sell it or come across another in my travels. It's one of those EE purchases where the condition was as stated or better. He included the paperwork which was really neat with the original owners notes in pencil on it. I was very happy to have it as the owner was quite proud of it, and knew how to look after his things. A canadiangunnut of yesteryear.

Oh wow...good find! It must have been posted prior to when I joined CGN. Otherwise I would have certainly seen it.

I had my 20g and one of my 12g out yesterday as well. Man do I miss shooting them. I shoot a different gun for waterfowl, so I havent shot the Franchi's since May. They fit me well so its a pleasure to shoot em. I went to the Markham gun show today and spotted a few. Prices were slighly high as expected, but not outrageous. Unfortunately, none of the ones I saw were in exceptionally nice condition. There was a fairly well maintained magnum gun, but unfortunately a previous owner thought it would be a good idea to drill a hole in the fore end to insert a sling swivle?!?!? I guess the thought of putting the front swivel in the fore end cap (where its suppose to be) never crossed his mind. Decided to pass for that reason! I had a Breda long recoil semi catch my eye though and it was a beauty. I may regret walking away from that one.....it was a dandy.

There really should be a sticky thread dedicated to long recoil action guns....such and iconic design and many beautiful examples to show off!
