Just wondering if anyone tumbles 223 in corn cob media with anything but aggravating results? Decapped a bunch of brass and tumbled it in corn cob media and now have 80 cases nicely packed full of media. Is it common sense or common knowledge to not do this? Anyone else ever been blessed with this predicament or am just special? Gonna take some time to dig that crap outta all that brass Laugh2

Yeah I'll be looking at another type of media for use in the tumbler from now on. Was just googling my dilemma and it seems that there are a few others out there that have had the same problem. Live and learn.

I hold them with the mouth down and touch the side of the case against the inside rim of the tumbler bowl while it's running, they are empty in a split second with no mess or lost media.

I tumble with either Lyman green or Hornady media with a touch of Nu Finish car polish. Most of my .223 cases come out empty from my Lyman 1200 (auto-flo) tumbler.

Are you using pet store corn cob? I once bought some at Wally only to return it. The pieces of corn were way too big, like 4 to 5 times the size of regular media. I can see something like that getting stuck in the cases.

Empty the media out of your tumbler, and tumble the brass again. The tumbling should dislodge the media in an empty tumbler.

I use walnut, had a issue once I added a polish compound, it made the media fill cases and stay there, took a wile to clean now never add anything and works great

I use the pet store walnut with a little car polish added beforehand, doesn't matter which polish u use. Add a teaspoon let the tumbler run with just polish for 15 min. Toss in your brass and wait. Also cut up a couple used dryer sheets and toss in as well. Never had a problem using this method. The walnut was pretty cheap at petsmart.

Why would you use cat litter? What does that save you? $5/yr? It's not like the stuff is very expensive at the gun store.
I change out my media once every year or two, I just throw in a used dryer sheet once in a while to absorb the dirt and crud left behind and keep using it. Brass still comes out shiny.

Sorry, don't mean to sound like a jerk but some days it blows my mind how much hassle some people will go through just to save a dollar.

This is how I empty them but not sure how well it will work in your situation

I use the walnut pet store lizard litter as well (cheaper than the branded tumbling media), with some new finish car polish. Works well and doesn't get stuck in the cases, although it does stick in the flash hole sometimes.

Looking at switching over to wet tumbling now.

I use the same method.
