Chinese Type 81, heard they are coming to Canada

4 damn years? The rcmp are way overstepping their authority here... Aren't some guns at like 8 years, still unclassified? The rcmp lab should be left for criminal investigations. It was never built for what the liberals are making it do. A new lab should be built.

This is idle speculation on my part, but it seems as if the FRT prerequisite for importing firearms is being used as a means of preventing more "scary" affordable, centerfire, semi-auto, mag fed rifles from getting into the hands of responsible Canadian gun owners.

The examples from this thread are only marginally different than readily-available NR firearms, and the RCMP knows it.

If these rifles were, for example, actually "readily convertible to fully automatic fire" then the Firearms Lab should simply prohibit them. If not, they should allow them to be imported. Simple as that.

The fact that many "scary" rifles are being held in limbo by the firearms lab is indicative of the FRT process being abused. There is no good reason for this sort of process taking so long, and if there does happen to be a good reason, then the prospective importer should be informed of the reason for the delay.

Federal overreach is much more of a problem in the States than it is here, but it is still clearly a problem within agencies such as the RCMP.

it is well known that the RCMP don't want civilian firearms ownership. Moreover, they're bureaucrats, don't ask them to be efficient...

If you are going to speculate 8 years, please post specifics about which gun is currently being held up that long. Otherwise it is only fanning flames of rumour.

Actually, painting a whole group as being one way is pretty much guaranteed to be proven un-factual. Are parts of the organization anti gun? Yes. Does the lab come across as being anti gun? Sure. Are there members of the RCMP that are IPSC, IDPA and gun nutz? Sure as hell there are.

The lab has prohibited certain Chinese firearms simply because they have not been given full auto versions to compare the semi auto versions to, thus they have said they are unable to tell if the gun is easily convertible due to lack of information provided by the importer.

For example, this is coming to Canada depends on when RCMP issue FRT

I really, really, really hope we see this in a NR format. Like so bad.

Which Chinese firearms, if you don't mind revealing?
