Aguila ".22LR COLIBR" Any idea where to get?

Hey guys~I was flipping through the latest issue of CALIBRE magazine and on page 11 there is an ad for Aguila. Pictured is a stunted-looking .22LR round with a conical bullet called ".22LR COLIBR" 20gr. bullet, velocity of 420fps. I'd love to try some of this stuff~anybody here ever used it? Any ideas on where to get it? A dealer in Ontario would be ideal.

Before anyone recommends it...yes..I've tried CCI CB Longs, CCI "Quiet-22"...and the like. Very effective for what I use it for, and I have plenty of it for now. I wasn't aware that there was anything slower out there, but I'm intrigued by this.

On the other end of the spectrum, they also have an HV round listed called a ".22LR INTERCEPTOR" 40gr., 1470 fps. I'd be curious to try it, though I probably wouldn't commit to more than a box or two until I knew how it shot.

Has anyone here tried the "COLIBR?"
 
I've still got 70 or 80 rounds of it. No powder. It just relies on the primer. It won't cycle a semi, and is not recommended for long guns as the bullet may get lodged in the barrel.
 
Aguila "Colibri". I've tried a package which I got at a LGS and was less than impressed with accuracy - even at 10 meters. Every air rifle I've shot was better than that. "Colibri" is an European word for "hummingbird", hence the hummingbird on the package. It think the bullet also copies the flight path pattern of said bird... :cool:

SFRC carries it. As for "not recommended for long guns"; it shoots from my Ruger 10/22 just fine and it makes less noise than a .177 air rifle. However, the accuracy leaves a little to be desired. Aguilia makes a Super Colibre that I would love to find.
 
I have a brick or two and use it to whack starlings and black birds shat bombing us while sitting on the front porch of the farm when their congregating in droves around the house on summer evenings. It does the job and without hearing protection---Dieseldog! (actually I think it is super cobri)
 
Interesting guys~thanks! I do some pigeon work for some farmer friends in/around large barns, and while the Quiet-22 is OK sometimes over penetration could be an issue. I could see these being pretty useful.
 
If you can get close enough maybe 7-8 m at the most for an accurate shot, they will work on doves. The CCI Quiet Segmented fractures on impact and is less prone to ricochet than regular Quiets. It's more expensive at $9,- per 50 though.
 
CCI makes a Quiet Segmented as well. Breaks into 3 pieces on impact . Same 710 fps. $9/50. I find it more accurate that the normal Quiet stuff Al Simmons' has it in stock. I just bought some there on friday.

I bought a case of Super Colbri a few years ago. (It was only $13 a brick!!) We shoot it in the back yard at the grandkid's birthday party. Super Colbri will exit a rifle barrel. The regular does not.

It is very quiet. Less noise than an airgun. In a revolver, it is much louder.

Accuracy is excellent.

I also bought their Interceptor ammo. They tout it as the highest velocity 40 grn ammo. I did Chrony it and it was fast. They make very good ammo.

Here is a video, comparing Intereceptor to CCI Velocitor. It supports the advertising that the Interceptor is faster.

Aquilla made good quality ammo that sold for cheap prices back in the 70s and into the 80s. Then for some reason it disappeared from the Canuck market. It was only available in hi vel back then with yellow packages and both solid point and hollow point.

With regard to the colibri 22 ammo, I read that this is a European concept derived back during the 1800s when indoor shooting galleries (not to be confused with today's safe injection sites) were very popular and single shot gallery pistols were mostly used.

Bought some cantire last year ....colour me unimpressed....not consistent.
Sorry, not "Colibri"...was "Super Extra".
Steinbach and Portage la Prairie ctires are showing the "Super Extra"...in stock.
