Who had the 590a1 14" barrel kits?

What kind of finish is on the barrel? I would like to see a picture but I am having a hard time finding one also does anyone know if this is a heavy barrel like the factory 590a1 has?

I believe the kit comes with everything you need to change your Mossy into a 14" shorty. There are 2 sizes of action bars and forends for Mossbergs and this is the shorter one.

Considering I paid $599 for the entire factory 590A1 14" unit, I'd say $475 for the barrel kit might be a little steep... however, doubt we'll see another shorty 590A1 shipment anytime soon.

Wow you got lucky I would buy one right now if I saw that deal! How many years ago was that shipment? The price does seem a bit steep but when you want something you want it, I am sure you know what I mean haha

I got mine Oct/2014 when the large shipment came in. A few retailers got them in good sized quantities but in a few months, sold them out. It was later discussed that these weren't supposed to even come to Canada and it was rumoured that it was a cancelled LE order of some sort. Possibility for new shipments is pretty low. Even lesser quantities were the factory "Modified" barrel version and others with ghost rings.

So, now they are going for that price or more on the EE, used. Here's the thread I started when I got mine (here it is just out of the box):

That is beautiful! I have the 18.5" right now but I'm trying to justify the 500$ price on 4.5" less barrel! Do they show up on the ee often?

I don't see any right now, but they do come up. You might have sticker shock when they do come up though, supply and demand.

I would never have even thought of going the 590A1 route had they not popped up when they did for the price being asked. Wish I'd bought a second one now.

I've since bought (4) 870's to build SBS's on.

Agreed. I should have bought the Modified version as well... they were in stock when I bought mine and I clicked on "Cylinder Bore" instead. Should have bought both. Oh well, I have a lot of shorties now, Fabarm Pro Forces 14", 590A1 14" and BNIB (about 10min ago), a Fabarm STF/12, w/11" barrel, life is good.

If the OP buys the 14" kit, this is a moot point because included is everything he needs... including the shorter action bars w/forend. For $475, should be getting a lot more than that, in my opinion.

However, if he wants to put a full sized forend (more options) on his short action bars, he'll definitely need to alter it somehow. Very few forends are made for the shorter action bars. There are some guys who modded their Magpul setup to fit.

I left my factory short corncob w/strap on as I actually like it. Works for me.

Stupid thing is, I had the money to buy a second one at the time but I didn't. I regret the decision now but I've moved on to other platforms.

One day I'll own a Fabarm, likely the identical to yours. Lol. Though, the dressed up version is only small change more.

Looking forward to your review and hopefully lots of video.

Didn't even open the box yet... I'm packing for a trip I'm taking tomorrow and I'm supposed to be working tonight :ninja:

Can't wait to see the finished product. How much does a Vang-comp job cost?

With these kits flying around... does anyone have a spare full length synthetic 590A1 forend laying around? How about a factory buttstock? :)
