School me on lens covers...

There is a company in the states that makes rubber ones that are reviewed extremely well. They are 100 USD though. I'll try to dig up the brand name. Small company. Almost look like recycled rubber. I have yet to hear a bad review if you are willing to spend 100$USD on them.

Here they are: http ://shop.aadmount.com/main.sc

I've had the Leupold Alumina covers, they work good. However, because they thread in, the timing of when they tighten can be off compared to where you want them. I had this problem, but it could likely be solved by a little glue on the threads but I sold the scope.
The Butler Creek ones are good if you can find a tight fit. They aren't super tough, but they are pretty cheap so you can buy them for lots of different scopes.

The Alumina flip covers rotate independently of the threads. You can hold the lid in the desired location and thread it on. If it's not quite right, back it off, hold the lid, and re-tighten. Easy peasy.

You sold me on them. I'll have to look these up. Any site sponsors carry them that you know of?

Edit: found some at Reliable. They've been pretty reliable for me as of late!

I like my leupy caps, riding on gravel roads sometime dust gets everywhere, including under the rings. My caps have kept all dust off my lens and i am happy with them.

None..... Who needs another step in the process?..... I hunt lots of rugged terrain and never saw the benefit......

^^ This ^^ I dont often find myself in a situation where they are necessary. half a roll of tissue paper in your fanny pack has way more uses.

S&B bikini covers (clear caps) you can take the shot with them on if you need too. Tenebraex are great as well.

I have done no covers on a cheap scope, but there is no way in hell I'm doing that with a scope worth thousands.

I just called them and ordered direct. It's hard to beat tenebrex covers in my opinion.

What are your favourite riflescope lens covers, and why?

On the flip side, are there any covers you absolutely hate, and why might it be so?

I realize different covers might not be available for all riflescopes, but if every cover worked on every riflescope, what would be your choice?

I've always used the Butler Creek stuff. That is, until I tried the new Vortex flip covers. Now I have them on 4 of my builds. Very well made (compared to the Butler Creek ones). In fact I have one for a 56mm objective for sale that won't work with my 5th build (scope is too close to the barrel).

Thanks for the help.

I might look into this later. Simple covers work for me, but I'd like flip-up. nice for those days when you are taking breaks or the rain/wind kicks up and you aren't searching for covers.

I called Crystal at Armament Technology Inc. today (very helpful, quick reply, no hassle) and ordered rear and front flip lens covers for my VX-6. I hesitated between clear and amber and whent clear...They need to be good because they are far more expensive vs Butler Creek ones (113$USD vs ~25-30$ for both ocular and objective covers). My Leupold Alumina covers will be on the EE section soon...
