Absolutely great find. I wonder how many consecutive rifles could have been found back when these originally hit the market. Just a guess but I imagine that they were distributed in lots with all consecutive numbers from the arsenal, then those lots were then broken up the surplus agency, the further by importers, then distributors, then further separated by retailers. I imagine more then a few shops received a couple pairs.
There was two Consecutive numbered, un-fired in grease with arsenal tags, Longbranch No.4's on the EE a while back. Oddly they were listed for a while, then disappeared, then came back a few moths later. seller wanted $2000 for the pair. I wish I would have picked them up. By today's prices 2 grand for consecutive, un-fired LongBranch No.4's would be a steal. My dream find would be a sealed crate of Longbranch rifles. Someone actually posted a pic of a few crates from a lend lease contract. When I think about it they were probably consecutive as well.
