vz 58 and cz going rate

Kelly's Online has a good price on new VZ58's. I'd spring the extra couple of hundred for a fresh one.

As much as I love 858's - I'll say it again, those impacted by last year's ban fiasco are likely to get re-banned if the Liberals keep their promise of overturning c-42.
Buy wisely - stick to a VZ58.

Vz58 are around ~1000 and they come with synthetic furniture, add another 2-300 for a beech wood set or about 100 for beaver barf if you can find them.

Been watching for a year now... Prices go from 700.00 as high as 3 grand. Depends on condition, res or non and how there dressed.

lf you buy used make sure lt was warrenty left!!! Mlne was already sent in once (ln one year of ownershlp) because of excess material so lt needs polishing guess..... You can imagine how the costs would add up without lt.

Buy the VZ and the furniture separately. lts 100$ for the beaver barf wlth hardwear online shipped. l would stay away from CZ for now l agree with dave.

Sent in because excess material ? Please explain

Decided to send a video of my VZ issues to CSA with serial # and turns out lts has "excessive material on the locking lugs in the receiver which scratches against the cartridge cases" ( from CSA directly ) ...... l geuss commonly confused with over gassing lsses that they fixed on my batch and newer ones.

This means CSA is a commercially manufactured semi auto clone of military VZ58, while cz858 is essentially VZ58 military rifle from original manufacturer with exception of longer barrel and modified receiver, so in this case one can expect military grade quality and tolerances.

l feel as if the cz vs vz debate ls always biased based on what you own. l have a csa VZ with CZ parts on the side and l see no visible difference except the flnnsh.

Right now the price of them both ls hlgh so good luck. Get the one with warranty either way because BOTH have issues and some are not something you want to flx on your own.

Like others have said, new they're fetching $1,200 or so. Used, they're anywhere from $800-1500+. I've seen them as high as $1,900. CZ858's seem to be listed for more on average, but fit and finish on the VZ's is much nicer, and the receiver is tapped for a scope mount. It will be interesting to see what Wolverine sells their new batch of CZ's.

Too high. It should be around 800 or 900 imo, I paid mine 1075 plus tax not too long ago (last one of a batch of last year) and now they are 1300 new. They are very good tho.

I myself am only interested in CZ 858's that are as close to original as possible. That includes everything it originally would of come with from the factory including manual, cleaning kit, bayonet, sling, and magazine pouch. Anything else I wouldn't pay diddily squat for. The CSA is different though. It begs to be tact'ed out. However my taste in tactical isn't the same as most people. Most peoples tactical builds are pretty awful. When I sold my tact'ed out CSA, I offered it to be sold separate from everything I had with it to everything it originally came with new from the factory including the box. However, the way I had it set up is exactly what the buyer wanted so he bought everything.

C-42 didn't change the status of the 858 from prohibited to restricted. Them abolishing C-42 won't change its status. The CSA is as likely to become prohibited as the CZ with the Liberals in power.

I owned both. Both where awesome guns. Best value non-restricted rifles on our market by far. Even at $1200, Id rather own 3 of them than a single Tavor. The CSA is better if you intend to do a tactical build. The CZ is best left original. The 858's problems are well known and very easy to fix yourself. Can even fix it while you're out shooting. The welded bolt tab isn't needed to fix the CZ Gremlin type 1 or 2. The Welded bolt tab just makes it so you can have a lighter trigger pull without suffering from the gremlin. The CSA however, needs to go to the warranty center to be repaired. When my CSA blew the bolt up, I sent it to Movie Arms who is no longer the warranty. However, the warranty work was fast and never had an issue afterwards. I've heard the new warranty place is okay. The good part is CSA has 5 years of warranty and they really stood behind their product. Overall, I rate the CZ slightly higher than the CSA but only slightly.
