Russ do you mean that is the actual serial number and need more info on that particular item? The date and manufacturer are on the top cover. However if it is a Canadian capture with the painted details and number on the item you need to locate the excellent Canadian War Trophy and Distribution records which will give you more detail. An awful lot of stuff went to Canada after WWI and excellent records were kept. Sorry I cannot help that much but if you could expand the question members may be able to help.

Yes, that is the serial number of the MG. I was just wanting to find some history on this particular 08/15. where and when it was captured, and it's travels after.

I do not have access to the Canadian list but it might be difficult to locate/research by gun serial number. The Canadian records 'might' show history by the physical serial number, but I doubt it. Normally like UK details were painted on/inscribed etc and with that serial number you could perhaps find out more info. Sorry - still not much more help!!!

Thank you John S for the 'tip off' on MG parts. Sadly they turned out to be WWII. Easy error both Mgs were adapted and used between the wars.

PHOTOBUCKET has changed its third party hosting options, so sadly many of my posts are now redundant. Could the Moderator simply remove those posts that offer nothing? and I will re-energise the MG08/15 thread.

If anybody has a source or location of WWI MG08/15 trench mounts please let me know. I am expecting to pay in the thousand mark for such items.

I am having difficulty attaching images so please standby. I wish to re-energise both the MG08 and MG08/15 threads. Could the Moderator please also advise on what to do with all the old photobucket images that have gone. I will with time replace.

Great advice fredqc on web imagery hosting - excellent and highly recommended. I will now repair the 08/15 thread.
