this should get interesting

Yes, the Ugartechea seems to be among the best in terms of features for the price. I'd love to buy one right now, and in fact I'm trying to do so, but it is proving to be far more difficult than I thought it would be. Bilozir has informed me that Ugartechea are no longer taking orders for some reason. They may have some remaining stock for sale. Still waiting to find out what. Communication with Bilozir is inexplicably slow and difficult. It takes multiple emails and phone calls to elicit a single response, and responses seem to take well over a week to arrive. Frustrating way to have a conversation. At this rate it will take months to even get to the point of making an order. And I'm becoming increasingly hesitant to give them any money given my experiences so far. So, I am starting to look to other makers. Some good info in this thread so far on possible options, please keep them coming.

For what it's worth, I've had better luck by calling on the phone. The number is on their site.

The reson they have quit take orders is because gnacio garteche is very old and ailing now.
With the Spanish economy what it si , and the labour issues in Spain the family has decided to close up shop.

If you think that communications with Bilozir are difficult now, I can tell you from actual experience that they get much more difficult if you give him money to purchase a shotgun from him, and the gun that you receive is not what you ordered. Been there, done that, never again. On the other hand, dealing with Prophet River has always been smooth and painless. If there is a problem, Clay will take care of it.

I have bought more than ten guns from Bilozir from three different manufacturers without issue.

I got my Ugartechea from Lion Country supply back when the dollar was at par. Imported it in through an outfit like Prophet River.

That doesn't change the way that he treated myself and many other people, when the shotguns that we received for our money were not what we ordered.
It is no secret that you take to bashing Bilozir at ever chance you get .
The fact of the matter is I have had excellent service from him as have many other people .

Beautiful wood and metal. They look as good as the Grullas.

The fact of the matter is that several people that I know , and some people that you also know, will never deal with him again, because of the way that he has treated them. Every dealer likely has had a run in with a customer, but in his case, it happens far too often.

Bilozir had a table at the Dawson Creek gun show this past weekend. I didn't see Will, but his wife was there. I always like to look at their display and almost bought a FAIR 28 a couple years ago. There were fewer guns on display this year, but two were marked 'SOLD' which is probably good news for them.

We are excited about these. Sure they won't fly off the shelf but will look good while we have them. Prices are $13,799.00 and $18,970.00
The 802 16g should be REALLY nice once we see it in person!
I think AYA took some pics for you before shipping too!

Send them when you get them, hopefully the AYA shows up in the next ten days.

It has happened no re often than an other company that people complain about.
I got called a liar by a very reputable company in Ontario that accused me of trying to trade them a rifle with the wrong stock on it,even after I told them I took it off the rifle.
He sent the gun back, I paid the shipping both ways, put the stock back on and shot the rifle.
How about a rifle ta was s crooked in the action it wouldn't go into the stock?
Or a rifle that was supposed to be finished and test fired but wasn't eve chambered?
These are all from companies that after I talked to others have had multiple problems and all are very reputable.

We dealt with the issue and moved on, instead of crying like a baby at ever chance we get.
You should do the same.

If Bilozir had provided the firearms that he was paid for, there wouldn't have been any issues. He could have reordered the stocks with the proper dimensions, and everyone would have been happy with that. Or he could have simply issued a refund, but he would not consider either of those options. The spec sheets that came with the shotguns didn't match the specs on the order forms, so there was absolutely no doubt that the shotguns did not arrive as ordered, even though we paid extra money for custom stock dimensions. The length of pull on one gun was out by 30mm, and the drop at comb was out by 6mm. As to me bringing this to people's attention at every opportunity, I will continue doing so, in order to prevent someone else from ending up in the same position. I am not just going to move on and have him treat other people the same way if there is something that I can do to prevent it.

If myself and my friend are the only unsatisfied customers, why do you suppose fishslinger posted this:

Only way to deal with Bilozir is, if he has the gun you want in stock and you are there to actually check the gun in person to make sure its the one you want. You buy it in person and walk out with the exact gun you want in hand. Other wise ordering one from him will take forever and there is a good chance you wont end up with what you wanted, LOP, wood quality, barrel length, etc.]

Uke Hunter has had issues with three firearms that he has ordered from him, because he didn't learn from the first experience. Oldgutpile has also had issues with Bilozir, as have several other people.

Your dealings with a distributor are not what this thread is about , and there are two sides to every story.
To the Op and others, I apologize for my participation in this derail .

I'd stay clear of Bilozir too! Every time I have posted about him it gets deleted so I'm sure this time will be no different. Tip for anyone reading this stay clear!

With people like Clay at Prophet River I don't know why you would want to subject yourself to dealing with Bilozir. Clay is first class all the way and a site sponsor!
