Ruger Precision Rifles

I handled an RPR in a gun shop recently. It was chambered in 308. And yea, it was heavy. I'd probably stick to accurate hunting rifles as opposed to committing to a heavy tac rifle. Reason being - I would prefer to hunt with something that I shoot. Although I'd have to admit it was a decently set-up up and can see why there are those who are interested in it.

It comes with one quick detach sling attachment for the keymod plus a stud type that can mount in the bottom with a short rail.

Beautiful thank you!

Most of my hunting is from prone/bipod or tripod/shooting sticks.

This rifle will be my deer/yote/target gun... use it for everything, have a red dot I can drop on for my thick bush deer pushing.

Keep in mind im a young 24 y/o with above average strength/stamina... (carrying a heavy rifle does suck) for 4 weeks out of the year where I really have to carry it i'll be ok!

My cousin insists on using a non sporterized lee.... He loves it an it gets the job done, damn if that isn't big and heavy.

Mine should be coming tomorrow. Trying to find a decent optic. Bout to go ahead with a viper PST 6-24

Likely Medium height rings. I'm used to employing LOW ARMS 22 rings on all my rifles , even the 50mm objective scopes are fine with the LOW rings on the Remmy and Winnie actions. Along comes the RPR with a relatively flat receiver and the hand guard without any drop, now I need the Medium rings even with a 40mm objective. Nice and low , still.

Cheers,
Barney

Well I got the rifle and I'm looking at places to get 6.5 creedmoor 140 gr ammo. Tough to find. Damn. Befor j bought it the guys at Calgary shooting center told me that have tons of it haha

What is everyone using for muzzle devices? Pics? Links ?

Not on a RPR, but I picked up an insite arms heathen brake. 225$ shipped, made in canada.

I talked with Harley at Insite and he said they were gonna do a few of the Heathen brakes up with a .750 dia to match the RPR. Needless to say I put my name on one. Hopes to have them out fairly soon,is what I understood.

Those things look wild, not sure if they are for me.

Those insite ones sound awesome, ez to install. Not sure how clunky they would look.

Any ones thoughts on this ? I don't need a brake for recoil as the rifle is plenty heavy enough to handle the 6.5 comfortably. So I don't want to get hammered by sound and develop a twitch or other negative things....

SO yah, thoughts ? Looks clean, not to big and bulky.. Should help a little. Although I don't want a giant fireball in my optic every time I shoot lol.

OR should I be looking at a linear brake/comp ?

(life would be so easy If we could have suppressors)

You are shooting 6.5...do they have on in the correct size for that?
