Bill S-223

The Liberal dominated supreme court jesters have already begun dismantling Harpers "tough on crime" laws. This is just the beginning of Trudeau World.

I've written a letter and made it available on my site. Just enter your postal code and click your MP. When you get to the letter page you'll be able to have the letter addressed to the Prime Minister or Public Safety Minister too. Once you've filled in your address (NOT saved in any way on my site) and selected a recipient you can then get a PDF or text file to print. If anyone wants their letter put on the site just PM me or post the letter here.

And how about the irony of Bill "223".

Lol.

If this ever gets through, think of how many criminals there will be in Canada!

another angle to this proposed bill is to contact your provincial DNR office.
there will be massive consequences to the american hunters coming up here and will
adversely effect each provinces income through hunting.

also is there a national outfitters association?
i am sure they wont like this either

The senate should clean up there own in house mess before trying to invoke unpopular legislation on law abiding gun owners. The senate scandel was pushed under the carpet all for three senators who took the fall for the rest. They really are disgusting to think they are even respected by Canadians. They are trying to force there own personal agenda on Canadians citizens who never even voted these people in the senate. I believe that you cannot compare relaxed gun controls in the US to our current Canadian gun controls. There is nothing wrong with our current laws as I feel we have a great gun control legislation. Maybe the good senator should take a serious look at where illegal guns are coming into the country. The senate is nothing but a burden on Canadian tax payers and serve no good use. Senate abolition should be put to a vote By Canadians. Can you imagine if we took the money that the senate costs and put it into our health care system. At least guns owners provide revenue to legal gun shops while the senate rips off the Canadian tax payers. I can say I am proud to be a Canadian.

Upon further review, I spotted some typos and added my own flair:

Senate bill S-223, "Strengthening Canadians' Security and Promoting Hunting and Recreational Shooting Act", a most disingenuous title if ever there was, is a danger to both public safety and Canadian heritage.

Canadians have a long and rich heritage with firearms. Nostalgia aside, this country was founded by bold explorers, trappers and hunters. This heritage has carried through the generations. Indeed, The Dominion of Canada Rifle Associate was founded in 1868. Throughout our history, responsible Canadians have hunted, practiced marksmanship and participated in competitions both at home and abroad. Bill S-223 would move close to half of all firearms owned by Canadians into a new restricted category (called circumscribed in the bill) that would severely limit, and in many cases eliminate, Canadians’ ability to enjoy their rich and responsible heritage activities.

Bill S-223 would require millions of handguns and semi-auto long guns to be stored in central locations. As of
2012 there were over 4.5 million semi-automatic long guns registered. When you add handguns to that tally and include new imports since 2012 the figure quickly grows to 6 million. Assuming there are 1000 clubs in
Canada that could build suitable storage facilities (there are not), that would mean each one would have to house 6000 firearms. Assuming this were even possible, who is to bear this cost? Whether funding is federal or provincial, are there not better uses for these funds?

As a government that prides itself on making data-driven decisions, I would be most interested in learning how this proposed bill would address the current state of gun violence in Canada. Can you point to statistics where registered/legally owned firearms are being used in the commission of crimes? Perhaps the funds necessary for storage under this proposed regime might be better spend combatting the flow of illegal firearms from the United States and bolstering police forces who meet this threat head on. According to Statistics Canada, 46% of all homicides committed with a firearm were gang-related. It would seem to me that this would be a logical place to focus our efforts and limited resources.

I believe that Canada’s current laws regarding the licensing of firearms, while imperfect, strike the balance between public safety and responsible ownership. I further believe that this will be borne out by statistical analysis, but only the government has access to such data. I implore you to at least make this data publically available when discussing any future legislation. This will allow for a richer public discourse as to the merits, if any, of the proposed legislation. Canadians need to know and understand not only what the government wants to do, but why and how this might make for a better Canada for one and all.

Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Let's be clear on one point:

The UN import marking is LAW this comes into effect 17th June 2017. Sadly the CPC did not "kill" this when they had the chance.

The lieberls know this law will not affect gun crime AT ALL.
This will simply push the price of firearms up (a lot) and create a new bureaucracy thus adding to the headache of getting a new gun.
This is the slow and steady plan to legislate firearm owners to death.

Just received the second Senator reply, Senator Andreychuk, stated "I will certainly take your comments into account"

I got a similar reply from same senator, he said he would study the bill and make sure my concerns were addressed.
Also got a reply from Senator Nancy Raines assistant saying that the senator had read the email but due to the volume of emails on this subject she couldn't personally respond to all of them. I'll take anything politicians say with a grain of salt tho.

Stop the drama, the bill is not going to pass. Its beyond asinine. Go shoot your guns.

I can't believe this isn't more front and centre. I can't believe that more large firearm retailers aren't up in arms about this. NFA, CSSA, CCFR, is anything being done or is there really nothing we can do?

Let's be clear on one point:

I corrected the date it is the 1st not the 17th June as I previously said.

Agree~~~ looks like we will end up only can buy Norinco and some few others which have already did UN marking.
I think we should start address this first.

I am so surprise how weak we are~~~ so sad

The Liberal dominated supreme court jesters have already begun dismantling Harpers "tough on crime" laws. This is just the beginning of Trudeau World.

Actually 7 of them were appointed by Harper between 2008-2015. The Chief Justice - the one Harper had a beef with - was appointed by Chretien.

I have said in in another thread.

If you think about it, why would the liberals encourage an out-going senator who has no more political career to table such a bill? This is because if she fails it will cost the minimal of political capital, but if it succeeds by any chance it will be a handsome pay off by some of the party members.

If the Liberals see little resistance and hear no noise from us, even if this bill did not pass, they will see this as a sign of weakness. This is a prob of us as the firearms community as to how much resistance we will put up, a gauge of our response and a testing of the water as to how far they can go if they want to put in more gun control.

Therefore, it is imperative for us to put up fierce resistance and not to be complacent. This is the present and the future of the rest of the Liberals government regime in the next 4 years.

Have to love Canadians... "It won't happen ... It'll never happen... Oh look, it just happened"

C68, UN markings and now this ridiculous bill.

i posted that in another thread

If that's the case, good. But how about some accountability for the old lib t@$d, she willingly wasted our tax dollars writing a ridiculous bill that she can't even see to the end..
And we're supposed to be okay with that?? Weeks of work writing this non sense with well paid legal staff on our dime?? Im just as pissed off about that right there I'll tell you what.
