Looking for an H&K p7

You can always try a wtb. Even though they don't come up often, there are a fair number around particularly the surplus p7s

H&K P7 Pros:
Excellent quality. German designed & made.
H&K P7 Cons:
Over-rated and totally overpriced. Fluted chamber mars brass. Expensive magazines. Some aren't but most are prohibited class autos. No more or no better accuracy than a good 9mm auto. Scarce but so what? Not an entry or mid level priced gun. So find one, pay a lot. Awful in 40 as most 40's are.

I agree that that 40 was a mistake but I love the P7 in 9mm. A very high quality, unique and compact 9mm. Mags are frankly no more than USP mags, though they are rarer. Considering what else is selling for close to 2K these days, these guns are not overpriced. And frankly, the guy looking for a P7 isn't deciding between it and another polymer wonder 9.

I'm not exactly sure how to tell what model it is, what kind of markings should I look for. I'm completely new to this pistol , but absolutely love it.
The P7 PSP has a heel clip magazine, smaller trigger guard and no heat shield in front of the trigger guard. The M8 and M13 models have US-style button magazine releases, larger trigger guards and a plastic heat shield in front the of trigger guard. They hols 8 and 13 rounds, respectively. I think the model number might be on the slide, too for those ones.

P7 PSP looks like this:

P7 M8 is on the left. It has the extended finger guard with heat shield and mag release by the trigger.

The standard P7 (this one is the PSP) is on the left. It has a smaller finger guard and the mag release is on the heal.

Another version, the P7 M13, resembles the M8 but is a double stack. The P7M10 is the 40 cal version. If it is an M8, M13 or M10, it will be roll marked as such on the slide.

edit looks like Master-G beat me to it

I have never seen P7K3, but did see one P7M10 on EE quite a while ago.

I find grip on P7M10 too narrow, and am curious if M13 or M10 would work better for me.

EDIT:

Sorry, TYPO---> I find grip on P7M8 too narrow...

Here's a link but I think they're talking about the width of the slide. The M13 has quite a fat grip. It's also long due to the squeeze cocker. I'm surprised you found it narrow. You must have long fingers!
