Thousand yard pistol

it's not really a pistol; stockless short barrel rifle maybe, but that's about the same as calling a Rossi Ranch Hand or a Chiappa Mare's leg "pistols" like they do in the U.S.

I need glasses just to read this thread and I lose things further than 10" in the fridge, I couldnt imagine trying to shoot at anything that far.
 
I don't think that can be shot one handed. That's no pistol, but it's an interesting bastard all the same. :)

My pistol is built on an undesignated savage target action, stainless steel 1-7 twist McGowen barrel chambered in 6x47 Lapua, JP recoil eliminator, NF 15-55 competition scope and a 7Finger Chassis with a Sinclair tactical bipod. I shoot steel plate matches in Ohio competing against rifles as well as other long-range pistols. Barrel length is 15.875 without the brake, I shoot 105 Berger Hybrid BN coated bullets and H4350 powder which gets me 2900fps. Here is a picture of another one of my long-range pistols this one is chambered in .223 Remington

Wow, I am just trying to get myself worked up to do 750m with a 26" barrelled full target rifle, so I figure you must be doing damn good! Congratulations!

Yes, and he is not actually hitting the balloon with the bullet anyways: he's rupturing it with the splatter from the shrapnel of the bullet on the steel plate.

At 1000 yards with a 9mm, I'm surprised there's any splatter at all. How fast would a 147gr bullet be traveling at that distance?
 
I have to shoot the 5" or 8" dia. plates at 1000 with the .223 because they are the only plates it will move. It doesn't hit the larger plates hard enough to move them and you can't see any splatter.

A 1/2 moa target at 1000 yards with a pistol... You're starting to push the limits of my gullibility.

Do they call you 7 Fingers because you've got an extra two fingers crossed behind your back? Got any videos to post?


I know, I know, there's one in every crowd. But someone has to be the Skeptical Sam. (For the record though, it sounds awesome, and I truly hope it's legit)
