I just bought a socom 16 rail and handguard, and a m1a standard stock. Just curious if anyone knows if I'll have any problems?

Furthermore I have a complete norinco stock to flog, anyone know what there worth?

It should be very straight forward for installation. Never had issues with the stocks. Did you get the stock from a dealer/retail order or did you get it from the EE?

Got it from the states. Buddy just bought a socom, and dumped the furniture for a Sage. I like the sage, but I love a nice light scout rifle. Mounting a Eotech 518 and a voodoo tactical m1a cheek riser. In my opinion, it will be the perfect backpacking/jeep gun.

Sorry, pictures only when it's done

Longshot84, here you go.

here's the rail and guard I got:

Gorgeous....you did a bang up job on the camo.

Much respect man, thanks! Always happy to paint stocks. Should have laid it on a sandpaper grit first... but there's always nex time! I read what happend to yours, and I hope it gets fixed man, im sure all the CGNers will jump at the chance to help!

Should be a nice set up. Do yourself a favour and don't sell anything until your build is complete. Never know if you will need any bits and pieces. Stripped Norc stocks sell for around $35-50. If you are including the hardware you can add another $20-30. If selling the handguard, sell it separately. They can go for $20-30.

cheers,

Ill keep that in mind!

I actually have 2 Norinco synth stocks on hand. The extra hand guard im not selling because I want a 22" upper and interchange them for different purposes. I actually just sold a USGI Vented guard for 50 buck shipped, so I know the hand guards are in demand.

Im not too woried about fitting stuff, ill be bedding it anyways, and I might swap the barrel for a non chrome lined barrel to get my accuracy back (Helps I can import anything from the states myself, woot!) and really reach out and touch. As is tho, this is my camping/backpacking/Jeep gun, Ye'oll Little coyote popper. they do back flips good!

Ok, so the Springfield rail mounted, and leveled with no problems, very snug fit, and a red dot holds no problem. It did however change the irons zero because of the harmonics, but that was a 2 second fix.

Now I'm working on the stock.

Ok, so... with some minor fitting to do I got the action and trigger to lock. I still have to skim-bed the stock, but I already see some major improvements.

1: Holly cow, I think this fatty just went on slimfast! The swap took off about 4lbs!
2: Recoil is actually less because the cheek rest and stocks shoulder pad sit higher than the Norinco POS.
3: The feel of the stock is just night and day, with the grip pads on the forend and the grip, as well as the fact that is so much slimmer.
4: This stock is rock solid, no wiggle, no bending, NADA!

Edit: Picture Added!

Dats my old rifle....Looks great man!!

Very nice job on the Norc stock camo job.....
I'd luv to have that done to the BC M40 I got from you....along with a smoother texture.

That it is bud! Going to do a few more things to it too. I can do it for you any time you want, just ask.

did you do the popsicle stick trick for the guide pin?- it's in the stickies- otherwise it'll walk out on you

why don't people read the stickies?- the guide pin om the norc is SOMEWHAT SHORTER than the hole in the usgi stock- that's what we used the popsicle stick trick

I only read when I can't fugire it out myself, and no, it's actually quite snug, no need. This is a Springfield stock, not a USGI
