I tend to think simpler is better for hanging gongs. 3/8 and 1/2 with holes at the corners, with 3/4" of material between the edge of the hole and the edge of the plate. I would prefer squares or rectangles to circles.

What, No love for something smaller like a 4" gong? I'd buy one or two for sure! Can't get out past 100m in a lot of the places I shoot, and a 8" gong at 75m isn't particularly challenging with an SKS, let alone a scoped bolt action...

That sounds better. How about smaller sized spinners? Like 1",2",3" a know your limits rack style sizing difference.

Yep I would only buy 1/2 " plate, because 3/8" is clearly insufficient with .30-06 and I want it to last more than a few shots.

I agree 100%

Powder coating or painting makes the gongs look pretty if they were on display somewhere, but if I had a choice, I wouldn't pay a penny extra for it. It's mostly gone within one shooting session.
