I have a M&P 9 in stock trim. Trigger sucks.

I have a Apex kit.

I have a MP Pro CORE in the mail to me.


The most important thing is a good trigger in the Pro. I have no idea how good the stock trigger is. If I split the APex kit between the two pistols, which parts go where?

I did all 3 of my M&P's myself and they run like a Swiss watch.
 
I'd wait until I'd seen what the trigger in the Pro is like, some are quite good. The sear in the Pro is a better quality unit than the stock sear. Have you tried polishing up the stock trigger, it takes about 20 minutes and makes a world of difference.
 
In my Pro Core with the Apex FSS the new firing pin block (USB) didn't work properly; it would just catch the tab on the firing pin and cause light strikes. I ended up taking out the USB. To fix this would require a new firing pin and a slightly different USB. I haven't heard of this problem in the regular M&P. It appears the problem is the Core sear engages later than with the regular M&P.

In any case, you will need 2 kits and you will thoroughly enjoy the triggers. Going with a flat face versus slightly curved is personal preference only. With the original Core trigger spring and FSS kit I have a sub 2 lb trigger that is as good as any 1911 style trigger job.
 
I have a Pro CORE and the stock trigger wasn't great although the reset was audible and you could feel it.

I dropped in the APEX kit with the competition spring and I couldn't be happier. It breaks at about 4 lbs, not much over travel and the reset is great.

If you're using your Pro for competition shooting, drop in the Apex and enjoy.
 
A Pro usually has a better trigger than a standard M&P. I put the Apex sear, sear spring and trigger spring in my Pro and CORE; makes a real improvement. Better than factory. Didn't bother replacing the firing pin block.
 
The pro series has a better trigger than the regular M&P, but unfortunately that's not saying much. I put the Apex FSS and aluminum trigger kit in my pro series and the Apex competition enhancement kin in my M&P 9. Never looked back after that. The FSS & trigger kit is expensive here in Canada but in my opinion it s well worth it. This will give you the best trigger you can get in an M&P. The competition enhancement kit makes a remarkable difference as well.

I wouldn't recommend splitting the kit up. I think any benefit would be marginal at best and you may not be happy with the results.

Pro arrived. trigger is crisp enough. I might install the stronger return spring, to reduce the weight a bit and then put the balance of the Apex in the ordinary M&P9.

I will be putting an optic on the Pro, so might put the taller sights on the stock MP9.

Why would you put the taller sights on the pistol without a optic?
 
Like I said, "They run like a Swiss watch!"

I would find it very difficult to go back to a factory trigger for any competition shooting.
 
Funny I'm in the same boat lol. Awaiting the arrival of my CORE and already have the flat forward face kit. Looking forward to trying my luck at a little smithing.
