I'm posting this in the shotgun forum because it's the only section I really care about. But, it applies to the entire site, IMO.

Used to be, when a member initiated a thread, it was just common courtesy not to hijack the thread with related, or unrelated topics. I don't know the reason, and I don't intend to speculate, but BOY has that changed! It seems like all the threads I read these days are pulled off on a tangent by someone who has a question pop into their mind while reading the posts.

Not only is this rude, but it's stupid. Neither the original topic, nor the side topic(s) get due consideration. Interesting topics that, in the past would have resulted in epic threads run only 15 or 20 posts these days.

Folks, when this happens to your thread, you shouldn't be shy to tell the troll to buzz off and start their own thread, if they can't stay on topic. If your topic is a dud, so be it. But don't be such an attention whore that you have to hijack a good thread to pump up your post count.

Actually I was looking for this thread. I plan to shoot 20000 shells of trap a year, which is the better gun? Mossberg 500 or 870? My friend has a 870 with an 18 barrel in 3.5" chamber with an extra full turkey choke, will that work - also, I only want.to shoot steel? Also I hate Turkish guns but think anyone is a fool who spends more than $350 on a shotgun.

What is the difference between trap and skeet?

:)

Straight shooter. That makes sense. I'm not to sure about your shotgun questions, but how do i get my cheap savage 22 to group with 45 year old cheap ammo and why cant i find premium ammo for under $0.02 per round.maybe I should start hording.

Kamlooky! Just the guy. I want to hunt moose in region 3 by you. Should I use 3" buckshot in my 20 gauge or will 2.75 cut it? Also, can you give me some map references to were you see moose and leave trail flags for me to follow too?

You know my grandma once killed a grizzly with a savage 22 single shot using subsonic short rounds at 200 paces. If you hunt with center-fire you are just throwing away money Everytime you pull the trigger...shot placement is key...

Moose lives indeed do matter, especially if I have a tag LOL :)

O.P. that's what I started doing (in as polite a way as I can word it), seems to get the message across :)

That is brilliant! LOL

ss - LOL! You probably lit a long fuse on this one. Maybe a while before it will eventually peter out. Kidding aside, I suppose I'm also guilty of doing such at times. :)

BTW, please allow me take advantage of the situation and actually pose a question that's been on my mind for sometime - haven't seen "Sharptail" at CGN for quite a while. Hope he is in good health and all is well.
