I just got a new Leopold FX3 12x40 to put on a short 10/22 for hunting beaver this fall and it got me thinking about fall trapping
Next thing I'm grabbing my antique Robin Hood pocket pistol that is re-chamber to 17mach2 ( nonrestricted pistal for the line ) and a couple muskrat traps for a photo
So let see what other trappers pack to work

Looks good. I've found that I find much more enjoyment in shooting beaver with my 257 Wby and 375 H&H, the pelts are basically worthless anyhow. $10 for a ###L isn't worth the effort. My 12 GA with slugs does the trick as well!

I was given a trapline in Nakoon park on Haida Gwaii on the week end
I have to cleen out sum beavers and muskrats on the line plus I need the bait for marten
Can't Wait to get started putting up the cabins in Nakoon park
parks said I will be allowed to run a Argo in the muskeg for beaver,muskrat and raccoons .
This year ther is actually no close trapping season for beaver,muskrat, raccoons and squirrels on Haida Gwaii
Muskrats is going to be realy good as no one bin trapping them same with the otters and pine martens
 
22 rimfire and a 223 for longer shots. For beaver 22 mag is way better. As for the price u might be just having fun and entertainment in trapping
 
The antique Robin Hood pocket pistol it takes 5 round but I just pack 4 rounds in the chamber for safety
The Little 17mach2 shood work perfectly for dispatching animals in the trap

No shortage of scenery and we're all jealous. One of these days I'll come visit the Queen Charlotte's, it's on my bucket list.
Otters are a ##### to skin and prep but pine marten should still fetch $60-$80, so they say. I've always had a soft spot for otter, never trapped them, but watched them intensively while moose hunting.
 
I'm lucky I have my own market for tanned beave,otter and sum muskrats plus sum Private contract
work

The contract work I will use my ATRS modern varminter 223 as the main objected is to wipe out the beaver all together and gang set with the traps

you hear anything about muskrat prices the park is getting over ran with them
 
I have a coupe rigs for my trap line...... Here is what I normally carry...... The scope is on it for the kids...... The bright orange is so I don't lose it when I put it down working the line.....

The scope on the rascal is a 3-9 crappy bushnell i tossed on there for the boys after they mastered the peep Ted.....

Most of my trapping isnt beaver, more yotes and wolves and fishers (and some snared rabbits)........ At camp, I deal with beaver in a different way, which involves dynamite and a .223........

I have heard that if you use enough ANFO (double bag it in plastic) and have really, really good eyesight you can see them flying through the air like Superman or Rocky the Flying Squirrel.

Or so I've been told.............
 
You guys have some exceptionally clean trapping gear. Where's all the fur pics? Whoa a 12X!!! For trap line duties that seems like a TON of glass. The line I help work in high school didn't have a spot more than 20 yards clear, a Lakefield 22 with iron sights dealt with all the dispatching/opportunity's.
