2016 CDTSA Multigun Matches **critical UPDATE Post 251 ** SEPT Match

Any idea of round count yet?

Thanks for asking... was just typing this out now....

Rifle Breakdown, 16,9,9,15 Perfect
Shotgun breakdown 6,9,6,16 Perfect
Pistol 5,12,10,10 Perfect

Registration opens at 9am, Safety Brief at 930, first shots at 10. Be there at 9 am to get your kit together and be ready to go please. We're working to make this go as quick as possible and get started on time. Plan for a full day but we hope to not run quite as long as the last match.

It gets hot out there with no shade. So if you have portable sun shelters, golf umbrella or anything to keep you cool. Bring it. Bring LOTS of water. Bring sunblock. Bring some food as there wont be time to run into town to get some. And remember there are bugs outside so bring bug spray.

Course of fire is, as always, a surprise.

Are we going to need carts or wagons again? What's the rule for pointing your muzzle during transport with a wagon/cart?

No slugs this match. Hint: A sling for a rifle will be needed though.

We'd highly recommend a cart. Experience shows it's a lot more enjoyable than lugging your gear all day. Muzzle either up or down for the cart.

Okay good to know, thank you

No, I believe that's steel core which would not be allowed. Here is a link to the rules which has a section geared towards ammo allowed: http://www.cdtsa.ca/uploads/1/2/7/1/12719138/cdtsa_3gun_rules_2016_final.pdf

Are you guys going to police this rule? I found 3 unfired Greentip rounds during cleanup last match on the 500M range. Magnets stick to them (PMC and LC).
Also saw some 7.62x39 steel cases during cleanup. I have about 6 different brands of that at my place and everyone a Magnet sticks to, Including Norc silver box which says lead core on the box.

The last match only had like 10 steel targets for rifle... the rest were all cardboard, and they were all under 50 yrds (except the steel). Dont know if you can shoot steel under 50yrds with .223 without damaging them.... I know my AR500 3/8" IPSC target gets pitted by just plain jane non steel core PMC FMJ's .... maybe my plate is a lemon though?

I would rather use the steel targets and get instant feedback than have to spend time checking targets for hits.

I agree, But that won't always work the closer targets require cardboard due to club rules and plain old Safety.
Now the way I see it shooting the steel at 200 and 300 like we did last match the XM855 probably won't really hurt the target but the spark the ammo causes is a fire hazard.
The last thing we need is to set the bald ass prairie on fire.
This is why I asked if it would be policed/enforced. Also I think the club would like to get more than a few years lifespan out of the targets the steel core stuff will reduce its lifespan for sure.

Now the XM193 is a whole different ball of wax. FMJ/lead core. Club rules state "no jacketed ammo" for shooting steel in the multi-use bays.
I know that they relaxed that for pistols for the 3gun matches, but pistols have a much lower velocity and we have new AR4/500 targets at Milo.
I assume that they are testing the waters with this for this year.
I also figure were never going to see a steel rifle target closer than 100M due to the safety and rules.
People have been seriously hurt from ricochets.

For sure and I wasn't clear when I posted that I was referring to the 100m and 200m targets. Close up I see using paper but it would be a time killer going out to the 100/200 m targets for scoring.

If we catch someone using penetraters during the match they will be fined for damage to the plate as spelled out in the rules.
Remember this is the clubs plates. IE YOUR plates. It is all of the member's responsibility to help ensure the longevity of our equipment. (IE, if you find green tip being used. please tell one of us when we can do something about it)

I only asked cause I read the rule and wanted to make sure cause I know the Milo range has different targets and we have a whole case of green tip, but I just ordered a case of different stuff for the match

I was using steel cased HP 7.62x39. At the last match....

4.1 Tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, and steel jacketed or steel/tungsten core and steel shot
ammunition are specifically not allowed and are prohibited. (Rule 4.1.1, 4.4)

This goes for you too warren. Cant use that steel core stuff on Sunday.

Looks like we will have to be checking ammo before the shoot.
