Long range precision shoot in Sask.

Question, The pros that shoot this 800-1000 what are they usually scoring for a match like this? 4-5 points each round?

Looks like the weather is going to be nice so far...

Really depends on the wind. Even stiff wind isn't too bad, it's the gusts and switches that get ya.

Here is a link to the long range Palmas held earlier this year. Each distance had a possible score of 75. You can see many of us left before the second day as the weather was turning really nasty.

The chance to shoot from a grassy knoll would be hard to resist.

We did some big gun stuff at a drillers match awhile back. Bill (can't remember his CGN handle) Appro and myself. Lots of fun, lots of noise, and of course half sized targets.

Ok thanks, I might have to look for a pair of muffs. I kind of like to wear a hat so that might be challenging.

I think I would rather shoot from the grass anyways, as I like to dig my bipod legs in the ground alittle bit and I dont think that would work in what looks like to be gravel on the shooting line.

Also, whenever I search for palma matches all that comes up are rifles with open sights. Is that right? and we can shoot out regular scoped varmint rifles in this match?

The gravel is quite loose so the grass may be better suited to you. It's not bad you will want a mat.

Plugs and muffs would be best but use what you can.

6x45 is a 6mm in a 223 case right?

Ive never shot beside someone that shot a boomer with a muzzle brake on before. Will ear plugs be sufficient?

I think Im almost more excited to shoot my 223 during the day then the big boomer shoot later on.

Yes it is just a necked up 223. I am shooting 105gr berger vld's

I will be wearing plugs and muffs.

Are you shooting your 223 for both?

Interesting stuff.

Thanks for posting.

It's really unfortunate that our clubs 3G match, Radiums Claybuster shoot, and this is all the same weekend.... Decisions, decisions...

If you do make it out this way, bring that 700 action you have for sale. Never know who's looking that isn't on CGN.

Hey all,

Just want to add this as I think it may get overlooked by some but will ABSOLUTELY be necessary for this shoot.

PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR!!! There will be debris getting tossed around by those shooting around you. Please protect your eyes as well as your ears!!

Registration is at 8am for the morning shoot. Boomer Shoot registration will happen once the morning shoot is over.

If you go to the website, you can preregister for the morning match and possibly the Boomer Shoot but you would have to check with the treasurer about that.

For people that are coming out for the day:

The clubhouse has a microwave and BBQ for making food.
Running water for dishes.
Nokomis has a small restaurant in town.
Toilet in the clubhouse and portapotties near the clubhouse and also on the range.

When I was just coming out for day shoots, I would bring a few sandwiches and lots of bottled water. Easiest way to go.

Looking forward to a great weekend! Weather is looking good for some great scores!
See you out there!

Finger crossed. :)

Yeah I was just going to bring sammiches water/gatorade.

Also... I dont know any of you but Ill be wearing brown overalls. :)

My shirt has my avatar on it but there may be a couple others sporting the same ones.

If I get a chance, I'm going to stop in at the dollar store for name tags just to make it easier on people.
