The risk of being new manufactured production is that we don't know if the parts are at same level of quality as the military contracted standards, i.e. a real type 81 , or will the quality of parts be somewhat of a rushed imitation driven by monetary bottom-line.

Yeh, that is worrisome. All I know is my uncle in the states has a Polytech Legend and it's a very high quality beast of a rifle. Many consider Polytech to be the best brand of AK ever. I'd like to be optimistic about the quality of these T81s on that basis but u'r right ultimately. Who knows.

This is their August 16th post - http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...RDERS**NON-RESTRICTED?p=12910391#post12910391

Which reads: "Hey, guys, no further updates unfortunately. We are told we are still on track for Q3 arrival. In the meantime we took some photos of the prototype to tie you over"

Which means what? Production was underway? Production was finished and they were prepping for shipping from China? Production hadn't started but would be done for delivery deadline?

Really doesn't say much.

You tacked on the still ready for Q3 to this post "Posted by Lungorthin: Two days ago TI said there were no new updates to give.". August 16th isn't two days ago and it's very difficult to believe that while TI doesn't have any kind of update to provide, they will still land within 2-3 weeks.

They made no commitment nor do they have an reason or responsibility to give us a play-by-play status update. They set a target of Q3, 2016 and have stated that they are on track to meet that target. We don't need to know anything else.

I neither said, nor implied they had a responsibility to provide play-by-play, so I don't even know why you quoted me. I literally just said that if they were visiting the factory, they would probably say so, and the fact that they haven't yet means production is not yet completed...it could be under-way for all we know, but not finished most likely...nothing I said had anything to do with TI not giving up to the minute updates...wtf

Oy. Every vendor here, especially those involved in importing or that take pre-orders for products, should read this thread - study it actually, as it provides excellent insight into the mind-set of the CGN membership, which of course is a cross-section of their customer-base.

I can't understand how people keep #####ing about this.

It's not even the end date yet.

Look at the CZ Shadow II thread.

Those were suppose to be here Aug, now they are saying possibly a Dec- 2017 delivery and no one is crying that bad on thay thread and I belive some vendors forced people to pay in full upfront for those aswell

I'm honestly just happy we are getting a Type 81... I mean how cool is that. Thanks T.I and thanks polytech.

They make good ak's and I have no doubt these will be well made also.

In comparison, the market was saturated with Type 56 AKs back in the day, year and after year, without crowd funding. It isn't a favour to pay for something illusionary. It might be our reality, but it isn't a privilege worth thanking anyone for.

C'mon....No body is 'crying'....Its getting towards the end of Q3...TI have stated recently there was no updates, which is fine. So based on their original 'estimated' Q3 delivery, is it not unreasonable to expect a rifle in the post soon, or is there going to be a delay like you mention with the CZ. Its a perfectly clear and valid request for info and I'm sure TI know's the answer...Nobody is throwing their toys out the crib (as yet)

Because people are being informed as things change. In detail.

With regards to the Type 81, there is information/rumours floating around which would seem to indicate very clearly that this gun will be delayed. I'm asking specific questions directly of TI to determine if the rumours I've heard are legitimate or not.

Hence why I ask if production has started or if shipping is underway. I doubt very much TI has only been told by Polytech "hey TI, there are no updates" as I'm sure TI would want a more specific answer than that after sending Polytech money. TI would probably like an answer that is more specific.

When TI initially announced they were trying to get this gun to Canada, they said they expected it in Q4 of 2012.

I've seen people burned on preorders before.

Without production up and running, I won't fund something that doesn't exist. It's a recipe for a letdown.

Not necessarily. We have all seen many pre-orders come off without a hitch, so you could just as easily say it's a recipe for success.

Especially if this is the only way people can get these firearms...

If there is no substantial update by Oct 1, I will cancel my order.
For me the lack of proper communication speaks a lot about the business itself.

Worst case is if these don't show up then my back account gets $1000 richer when TI has to refund everyone. The money is gone and spent so if they have to refund it will be like getting a bonus. When I initially put in the preorder it was expendable money that I had to spend so it doesn't really bother me if things get delayed, hopefully its not years though!
