I don't know how Doug found time to throw a shotgun to his shoulder on a bunch of birds when he spent the majority of the morning with his trousers around his ankles fertilizing the tree line but he managed to squeeze off a few rounds without the guns recoil setting off a chain reaction filling his pants and was able instead to fill a limit of ducks and get a nice big roaster Canada goose that he promised a rather "perky" shaped young lady at the storage place a number of my belongings are stored at. Here he is between fertilizing applications posing with a strained smile hoping to get a photo op before heading to the tree line......AGAIN !!

How many beer did that take the night before? Poor Doug! Chuckle

Cheers
Jay

I don't know? Both nights he has headed back to his camper early stating he must update his travel blog. Lord only knows what goodies he has stored in that camper he is surviving on and what he is washing it all down with though he claims its just a little white wine with ice cubes to water it down some?!!

lol, the lil fella is getting quite gray! What kind of nest is under that cap these days? I think it was all that afro-wire he had on his head that spooked my dog when he was last here! Yeah, he used that same white wine and paperwork excuse to get out of sitting up late with the real men!

Rule number one...always have a good supply of TP while hunting. Buddy of mine ran into a shortage while goose hunting on an island on the St Lawrence river.....all he had was the wax paper off his Tim Hortons bagel (the stuff that covered in butter) I'm guessing he's packing lots of TP these days.
Sounds like a good time Frank! I assume you don't have to use the shock collar on him?

just got a call from Doug, he's still up (close to midnight) he's dancing with friends in his motel room in my hometown in SK! Yes, he's sipping on white wine! Says he'll be here tomorrow and we're guaranteed fresh trout for supper! He'll dive for them if they don't bit the hooks! Looking forward to a gourmet meal!

Doug arrived at 6:35 PM, it was late, soon to be dark, we got in about 15-20 mins of fishing, I caught a 12 1/2 inch trout, Doug cooked it in a mighty fine coating from Texas. Coffee is on this morning, Doug is not up yet, however he is/was very tired last evening from a long journey. I got the steel gongs painted and ready for shooting if he wants to and he had mentioned catching some fish to smoke. I'm going to hold off feeding the fish for a bit and see if we can catch some before they fill up. I think the rain will hold off until this evening.

Begs the qwestshun............whom awff yewse two hazz mawr hare awn their tete?......................:onCrack:

tete? Where is that location?

Doug has more hair (high hair) on his head than I. His beard has a lot more old man white/grey than mine, although some would argue that. I'm not balding, but I keep a low profile up top, go with a home haircut every 2 months with the 1/2 inch foot on the top and 3/4 on the back and 3/8's on the sides. I ain't never did trim my beard in many decades, (Last complete shave was March 20th 1971 in the morning, the day I got married), it just grows longer and curls and twists more and look about the same length all the time, and my mustache, well it's too long, but I like to keep the ladies guessing as to whether I'm smiling or frowning! Some of them hairs get stuck in my frt upper partial plate when I eat, but that's life, I get used to it!

Sadly Doug took to sickness last evening, hit the hay early, only had 2 or so glasses of his white wine with ice, didn't git to sleep until 4 AM, tossed and turned, got hot spells and broke into a sweat and cold spells and shivered so much the ground shook! We had planned to catch some trout this morning and smoke 'em, I held off feeding them to hopefully make a more successful time of it. All the AR500 gongs in the yard have fresh orange paint on them and ready to hammer and the 2 Ruger rifles he was going to look at and consider buying didn't get looked at, as he had to rush back to the toilet again and then he set sail for Ont. Too bad, prolly won't see him again until his next Great Western Tour in about 5 yrs.
Lessen you looky would wanna team up wit me and take a spin to Kingston ON in my Silver-raid-o or your Color-raid-o sometimes before that, what ya say, maybe after you get settled in to your new home on the lake front?

here's what Doug & I had for supper last night, a 12 1/2 inch rainbow (could have measured 13 inch), I caught it, Doug cooked it, he coated it in his special bulk coating from Texas, it was absolutely awesome. He left that bag of coating here for us, what a mighty fine thing to do!
Jr went out to the pond this morning caught 6 fish, but all were smaller than this one, so he put them back for another day next yr. I think we'll try again around 5 PM, hopefully get a couple bigger ones for Thanksgiving supper.
In the jar on the left is the "questionable" jar of canned chicken that looks ok with good color, the one on the right is the canned elk that Doug took home.

Sounds to me like he had one too many summer sausage and gouda cheese sandwich on this trip! Gotta keep him out of the lunch meat section at Superstore. The lunch meats in that place will leave you hershey squirting til your rectum is beyond repair!! :(

Doug pulled out of here at the right time. I woke sunday morning to a white winter wonderland. About 4" of wet heavy snow. I am sure lots of crops have been lost now? Its been a real delayed harvest season with the cool temps, too frequent rains and now snow! If the birds stick around it will be a smorgasbord of wheat laying down flat! This is what it looks like after setting the decoys in a couple inches of snow and suddenly before the birds even leave the roost you get hit with whiteout conditions for over an hour!! This was sunday morning on a field Chisholm lined up. I felt bad Doug had left before Chisholm located those ornery white birds Doug so badly wanted to hunt. After Doug had left I opted out of this hunt and I am now thankful Doug led the way to staying warm and dry! ;)

Those are the layout blinds on the left!! Apparently it snowed so hard the birds could not even see the setup below them!! Look what you missed out on Doug!!

You're worried you aren't feeding enough? Are you kidding?!! Could that fish actually swim or did it just drift over and get snagged on the hook? It couldn't possibly be hungry?! You'll have the only rainbows in Canada that are 10lbs at 18" of length by the end of their second summer!
