Purists, avert your eyes.
Bayo lug removed, fibre optic front sight, Tech sight rear, trigger job by Kivaari in Texas, Stippled stock. Bahr arms magazine. Flat black paint job, waiting on the duracoat when funds allow.
I carved out the buttstock in the rear, to get a better grip than the usual soft angle provides. Weight down by 1/3, at least. Accuracy went way up.
A pleasure to handle and use!

The green bastard from parts unknown!
i already posted this in a different thread but thought it belonged here too.
This is a recent purchase from Frontier Firearms, i was planning to build one very similar to this but found this instead and saved myself a many hours of work that i don't really have. not only am i tickled pink by my new toy, I'm very impressed by the customer service at frontier. they were very friendly and helpful on the phone when i had questions and they shipped the same day i placed the order.

it is chromed. at least thats what the ad on the web page said. I couldn't tell the difference myself.

The nice thing about the SKS is that the low price makes it a less risky proposition to bubba, I mean customize, without fear of a huge loss in the event of a mistake

Agreed. The only bad thing is that I was too stupid to realize that I was learning on a really nice SKS. Should have bought two at the time...

All pictures are great, we all love our rifles and I'm a semi purist, please don't jump down my throat, I love all the mods, all rifles are gorgeous
Here's my uber-tactical SKS
3 Coats of red mahogany stain & 7 coats of tung oil
Barrel chopped to 19" and crowned
New front sight assembly and front sight post fitted
Tech site rear aperature sight
It's a bit lighter now and better balanced too
Put 200 rounds through it after the mods and she ran like a top
Still want to do a trigger job though

No worries, I have my unmodified SKS that is just as beautiful as the modified. I enjoy the best of both worlds

A man after my own heart, I got 5 baur mags for my sks, they function ok, I haven't fired them yet but loaded and held them loaded for a week, put them down and forgot about them hahah
