Always been a Colt SP1 fan. Shoot the hell out of it.
Curious how many other members have the same passion.

I have a '72... That's a year older than me!! Alas, it mostly sits in the safe while I beat the Hell outta a modern build with all the bells and whistles.

PS: Can't believe no one has called you out for having this in Main Battle Rifles... Dontcha know you have to be .308 or bigger to be a Battle Rifle?!?

I have two SP-1's. Back in the days before rivets, we would do 30 round mag dumps one after the other. Gas tubes would turn red and the smoke just poured out of the hand guards. Damn, I miss those times. :(

I've got my dad's old one, he picked it up in the early 70's from a shop in the US after the local National Guard surplused them. 1968 manufacture date. After I got it, I put a 1966 Gen1 Colt Scope on top of it.

I built me a M16A1 clone from USGI parts kit but with a standard DPMS lower as I could not find a repro one obviously.
I love the configuration. It's crazy light, very well balanced. Mine is very accurate as well.
Nothing like a 25 meter - 200 meter battle zero with a 20" barrel. Eeeeasy shootin!
It's the only AR I own. Not a fan of bells and whistles. I like me some Stoner style AR

I am absolutely love them!

My buddy has a mint Colt SP1 he bought decades ago. with just a couple of hundred 5.56 down the pipe, said he might sell it, I said you are nuts!

It is simple, light, and just fun to shoot, the new lego guns with all that battery powered crap, no thanks.

Not an SP1, but this is my old girl, never jammed, shoots amazing, love the all metal butt stock and skinny grips, had her for decades as well. :)

When I am at the range lots ask to shoot her and comment how light and simple the design is.

I have a couple of them. Always liked the simplicity of them. I also have the colt c7 uppers for them, never used them.

Originally they came with the bipod and cleaning kit. The colt 3x scopes were also a great addition. I used to
be a dealer and found some in a box. Great find to have with my guns.

What sort of value would a near new condition (but no box) expect to be?

Depends on the buyer of course. That said, 1100-1500 depending on condition and year. Just speaking for myself, but the earlier the year, ie 60's I'd pay a bit more for than an 80's in the same condition.
Mine was almost new, paid 1350 and was OK with that price.

Colt vintage bi pod

Where did you get one? Want one for myself, looked around for a Colt one, but they were all sold out.
A Colt bayonet to go with it, and she'll be done
