I have been out fron sun up to sun set for the last 5 days here in MB we have buck only season again. I have seen 2 doe's and 0 bucks :( i did manage to take this big male coyote and seen 2 more. Hopefully it will help the deer population in the area. I will head back out for the weekend hopefully i can tag out this year. Its a tought hunt this year for me how are you making out?

Its neen challeging for me this year. I keep seeing the same does and turkeys but the bucks have been elusive. I hear the coyotes every morning and night and the landowner told me on Sunday that there wss a wolf around chasing a deer, so that probably doesn't help.

In 4 days on the property saw 2 bucks, 4 does, 1 fawn, 2 coyotes, 16 ruffed grouse, 3 sharp tails, 5 snowshoe hares, and numerous red squirrels. Nothing worth pulling a trigger for though.

Sorry Cteve do not want to derail your thread but I need to know?

umchorn2 how do you keep the grouse in? Do you have flight pen netting over the tops of the trees and attached to the fencing? Must be fine mesh fence too to be able to keep in the rabbits, squirrels and coyotes? How do you know when all the small game reaches trophy status and is of worth pulling the trigger since they do not grow antlers?

Forest is old growth. Lots of deadfall. Birds and rabbits love that stuff. Trails make em easy to find. As for the small game I only hunt them with my handmade traditional bow. So they're generally safe as I'm a bad shot. Deer get a free pass till 4 years old. After that they're on the hitlist. Since I follow all the regulations I don't bait or hunt food plots so finding them is pretty hard on 470 acres.

Show me where in the SK regs it says you cannot plant food plots? Do you even hunt or is it all in your imagination?

lol... I seem to remember you cook it on an open flame to well done while spicing it up a lot.

I would love to see you video a from field to table coyote cook out. Those things are nasty! I don't even pick mine up and carry them without gloves. I keep old used work gloves on hand just for the task because I have had good hunting gloves not lose that nasty smell.

I have property in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Manitoba you can't bait deer or hunt them over food plots. In SK you can. Manitoba has strict hunting laws, more crown land, but less animals from what I can tell.

There ain't much for game in provincial forests in either province, unless you're hiking way off the path or flying in to hunt.

Haven't had a chance at a coyote, but there are plenty of tracks left behind as proof they were there.
I've been running into younger bucks but none of the bigger boys yet.
