Death of an FN 1A1?

Tough call
As stated earlier, Ishapores were considered junky rifles--but still
If someone is really aching for a wall hanger, rather than deactivate something, maybe buying a quality airsoft replica might sooth the urge.
I looked at some AK's at a place and could not tell the difference between them and the real ones. I'm sure they have FN's too.

Nice collection NavyShooter.
I kind of regret selling the C1 and H&K sub-cal kit.
I have had every one of them except the (SUIT Sight)
I have some 12-3 FNs so those two are going to be harder to get rid of, if I ever get the one being held hostage in Ottawa since Feb. 2014.

I just got mine that had been there since Jan. 2011. Seriously, no joke.

If you ever want to part with the C1 and sub-cal system I would be interested.
I just traded some items for a deactivated Italian Model 38A, #### and click.
Those are heavy little buggers, its missing the magazine, cocking handle, end cap, and second trigger system.

Whatever you decide to do is your choice. I'd be willing to take it off your hands without mods once payday rolls around. My Norc AK is lonely in the safe.

The sad fact is that turning it into a dewat actually makes it worth more. Likely not enough to offset the cost of the work unless you can do it yourself.

The only other option would be to strip it for parts and sell it it the US as a parts kit. Probably your best option from an economic stand point but a shame to have it leave the country.

I'm jealous. I was under 18 at the time and my parents wouldn't sign off on me getting my FAC. Local store had converted auto Stens and M14s at the time for $400.

Insane BS at the Government level.

Been following your dilemma through previous posts. I Just cannot believe this is still up in limbo.
Whatever happened to reasonable /fair waiting periods. Just recently here in NL. fraud & embezzlement charges were dropped in two
separate cases involving MILLIONS of dollars due to the accused rights to speedy trial being violated.
Apply that to guns ,--- and you have ZERO rights , because you Might hurt someone with it , & it Could be made to go "nuclear" .

Back to the OP , my opinion- because it's an Ishapore , dewatting it would make it easier to sell for a better price than live .
I would think twice though if it were a different breed of FN.

My thoughts? F#ck our Government for making this conversation necessary. It's a shame that fine rifles like those are going to end up destroyed for political ends.

Other than that, can you sell them to someone in the US so they wouldn't be deacted?

So sad but true. I own an unrestricted SVT40 can own an unrestricted M14 or Garand but The L1A1 is prohibited. I to used the L1A1 in my military days and would love one but I am not allowed. Of all our bizarre restrictions this one makes the least sense to me.

couple of weeks ago , a fellow sold a 1A1 in good shape for 250.oo
Thought about it , but have a L1 already.
You can't send these to the U.S., parts you can, but not the receiver.
years ago a fellow from the stated bought a mint FM-FAL from me and left me the receiver
and took the rest south, but his money.
BTW, you can shoot them if you live on a gun range.

Just gave up my 12-3 status this summer. I'm not a museum and I needed the safe space for guns I can shoot. They went to a good home.

i feel your pain. i had always wanted a bren but by the time i had enough money scrapped up, i was a student, the liberal pr!cks had changed the laws so i was sol. on the other hand, i do have my 12-5 so things could be worse.

If you can get more for it deactivated than you paid for it then do it, especially if you are not shooting it. The FN C1 I carried for a number of years was thankfully replaced by the C7. The ones who complained (and still do) about that are the same type of people that moaned when the Lee Enfield's were replaced by the FN C1. Prohibited firearms are getting harder to sell, and I don't see the list changing anytime soon, which is why you have come to the question you have regarding your FAL's. I do keep seeing deactivated ones on walls, as people like making service plaques out of them as an alternative to the traditional shadow boxes.

yep i have the same issue going on in my head i have a number of firearms that don't see the light of day anymore ..sucks big ones for sure ..I will never get out what i paid unless i de-activate them but so far i have only done one which sold for a crap load of cash ..1919A6 real nice one but I needed cash for the harley ..still have 2 brens ,1919A4,mg34 mg42,MP-44 sten ,vickers, fnfal fn c1a1 yep just collecting dust
