we have meat for our table, thank you Lord.
Yesterday, 10;30ish AM, about 4 miles from home , Jr #1, one shot clean kill, 25-06 X-bolt.
Cold water rinsed, hung and skinned within an hr, will be cut and vac-pak wrapped and into the freezer this evening. Thin sliced quick fry venison strips for supper tonight and a slow cooked pull apart neck roast for Monday night's supper. Hide will be tanned and used to make drum skins by Jr's girlfriend, legs and head and bones will be yote bait or just go back to the needy in the forest. Will make jerky throughout the winter, eat the tenderloins, hamburger and have quick fry and neck roasts. At one point away from the rush, we'll take in the cubed pc's for custom sausage, pepperettes with cheese, breakfast sausage, salami etc.

You have a lot of plans for that deer. Maybe you should have held out for his dad? Ha ha. Way to go, and enjoy your feast.
Mine was similar, and its almost gone. Jerky, kielbasa, and hamburgers. Next year will be a long time to wait for another chance.
