375 Ruger

Don't think I've ever used a dancing banana on the net .... , offline... well that's another matter.

Might as well stir the pot .... .375 Ruger must be getting popular for Savage to offer the 116 Alaskan Brush Hunter !!

Quite a number of forward thinking gun makers are now chambering the 375 Ruger. They have recognized it's widespread appeal and want to get in on the excitement of the most successful .375 introduced in the last 100 years! :)

I have one on the way from Mossberg in their patriot line up! good ol' wood n blue does the trick for me, cannot wait to sling some Hornady 300gr. DGX down range.

It will catch on like wildfire soon, budget line ups are most likely going to introduce a 375 ruger in their inventory in the years to come mostly because it is a standard length action and for only a $100-$200 more than a 300 win you can get something that will really put the hurt on anything on this planet. That has A lot of appeal to folks who don't want to spend a huge dollar amount on an arguably less handy rifle. I guess it all depends on your use and opinion though but I think the .375 ruger will be the "do it all for less" type rifle.

Speaking of which. It looks like the world travelers are still ordering H&H's. :)

I'm not the type to waste a man's valuable time, I'm not planning on buying one of his rifles.

Sounds like the Zambian PH is very happy with his, and most NEW KING owners are happy with theirs. We are all happy like this: :dancingbanana:

Like Mossberg? Laughing!
O.K. then, how about a nice high end rifle like the Krieghoff Semprio?

The .375 they list is the Ruger. I read a review by Craig Boddington on the company owner and the new gun being chambered in .375 Ruger. Anyhow, just another on a longer by the day list of manufacturers that chamber the new king. Too bad it's so unsettling for the owners of the old queen.

Hey, theres nothing unsettling about the progress the 375 Ruger is making in different rifles.
Its all good to see, the more variety the better for everybody..

A handful of top athletes including Michael Phelps also employ "cupping", or giant hickey making. Some hockey players won't have ### during the playoffs. And some PHs carry a .375 Ruger or Mossberg- most don't. ;)

Not yet....Give it a few more years and I'm sure we will see more.

Regardless, African PH's make up a small percentage of rifle buyers, and hunters have been snapping up 375 Ruger chambered rifles at a rate never seen before for any other .375 caliber cartridge.

Lol.... exactly what rate is that?

It's true actually about selling at a faster rate than any other new .375 Magnum. Somewhat easy when you're the only new .375 Magnum to be introduced since oh, 1953? :p Wasn't much need for another "Big boy .30-06" in the 95 years the H&H was out hunting before the Ruger fell off a napkin and into an action. I love a good marketing pitch and Ruger might as well run with that one! ;)

I was actually happy with the Ruger's performance and played with the client's, it's a funky feel in feeding, more clunks felt through the handle than I'm used to but no hang ups. For an all weather and cheap package, pretty slick, but did Ruger cease Alaskan production recently?

It's not just "new" .375 cartridges- 375 Ruger chambered rifles now have higher new rifle sales than 375 H&H chambered rifles, and it's a trend that will continue. Same thing happened to the excellent 300 H&H when the 300WM showed up. It's just the natural progression of things.

Got some stats to prove that?..... Or is this just what is said at a the Wednesday night dancing banana cult meetings before the Kool aid gets passed around?

I believe Ruger discontinued one, if not two models in the .375 Ruger.... But I am sure the Mossberg and Savage variants will be wildly successful.... After all, when I think of guys who want to do Africa or travel to Alaska or BC to hunt that reload or don't mind tracking down expensive and difficult to find ammo, the first two manufacturers that pop into my head to supply them with rifles are Savage and Mossberg.......

Truthfully speaking, it's a good cartridge, and as a guy that loves the Ruger scout / guide gun / Alaskan type platforms I think it would make a good combo....... but it's still an answer to a question nobody asked and has it's disadvantages over the H&H with few advantages that I can see.....
