Two very nice bucks. One came on the call in a swamp. Frontal neck shot at 70 yards as he was lifting his nose high up. One was crossing a road as I walked out of a swamp. I yelled, he stopped and stared so I had time to open the bipod, get on the ground and shoot. Neck shot at 153 yards. You can zoom in on the picture and see the deer on the road after my shot.

I really like this rifle, even if a bit heavy with bipod. Very accurate, great trigger feel, compact. Also the hunt was quite good this year. Even if deers are smaller in general on the island vs the mainland, you can find good specimens as you can see. Enough meat for the family for a few months after all I think :)

It must be around 10 lbs with the bipod (heavy bidpod) and 10 rounds in the mag... It is compact, so great to walk in the wood and in swamps, but it's a good exercise...

You can shoot everywhere, it's a totally wild island, a deer hunting paradise. Anticosti is the size of PEI if not larger, human population is 200 people all living at the western tip of the island. The rest of the island is a big provincial park. Deer population is estimated at 160,000.

Nice deer. I'm not accustomed to seeing pictures of nice racks like that from the island; most of the ones you see are just little meat bucks. These are both beauties, congrats.

Might want to consider an Atlas bipod, a bit lighter.

Great Job! Congrats

Have to confess when I first saw pictures of that rifle I wasn't too hot on it, but after handling one & seeing your report, it sure looks like a nice piece of kit!
