I refinished the birch with a red mahogany stain and it turned out much nicer than I expected. I'll post a picture later tonight.

That looks good but Birch doesn't take stain well, it's just a crappy wood. Can't beat Walnut... it has aggressive grain and is so easy to work with. I'm sure I won't find any take-offs from the Classic Field model, maybe I can buy from Mossberg (Grech Outdoors - I believe they are the Mossberg parts and warranty people for Canada).

Birch is lighter and stronger. Use good quality gel stain let set and rub in. I always do a few coats with dry time in between. Finish with linseed oil. Works like a hot dam! Done more then a few of these. Red mahogany is nice but use cappuccino with it for shading to give that old used look.
If it's a 20" they'll need a mag tube as well, just to warn you. The mag tube for the 14" may be different length than the one for the 18" as well (both 5rd mags) as it's a different length than the 5rd mag tube on my 500.

14" mag tube works with 14" only! 500 work with 500's and 590-590a1's with 590-590a1. 400g 500 590 590a1 receivers are the same.
Haven't even shot this puppy yet... I have all the woodworking stuff ready as I used it on an old shotgun that I acquired. Might venture to use it on the crappy birch they put on these Mossberg's. I put a WTB ad for walnut furniture from the Classic model, no dice.
If I do it, it's going Dark Walnut like their Silver Reserve, if possible.

You won't find a complete 14" 590A1 unless you go to the used market on the EE. Good thing about the kit is that it will work on the Mossberg 500/Mav 88 as well.
