I just bought a used Dlask 1911 Pro 9mm from the EE. This is my first handgun. Still waiting on the registration certificate so I haven't taken it to the range yet. I ran a snap cap through it and found that it wouldn't eject at all. Took the slide off and found that the ejector is missing completely. The ejector pin hole appears to be only drilled halfway through starting from the right side of the frame. It does not come out the left side. So I have a few questions:

Does Dlask not pin his ejectors?

Is it normal for the hole to be only drilled halfway on a gun with a glued ejector?

When I get a new ejector, is it a simple matter of drilling through the rest of the way to pin it in place?

Ejectors will work without any pins because they are trapped by the slide - BUT if they are NOT pinned, and the slide is removed (for a complete and detailed cleaning) the ejector CAN and most likely WILL fall out of the frame...

But doesn't it have the potential to bind the slide if it moves?

Photo with 1/6" drill bit inserted into ejector pin hole. The hole actually breaks out into the back of the magwell. You can see where the hole ends about 2/3 of the way across.

Photos showing that the hole is not perpendicular to the frame. I'm pretty sure this is not normal and that the ejector pin hole should run straight across the frame, but I don't know for sure.

That's sure not the finest bit of machining I've ever seen...but dlask is a great business to deal with...I'll bet they will figure something out....best of luck with it...I'll follow with interest.

Thats why they didnt pin it, they screwed it up. As the hole should go through straight, but at least on the ejector side.

someine got lazy and thought you wouldn't. I would have a nice talking to Dlask Arms before you do anything, or they will void any warranty, and blame you for the problem.

they knew what they did, thats why the ejector wasn't pinned. They still sent it out.

QA from them has been brutal lately from other stuff I have seen

That frame should have never made it out of their shop, also hope that the guy who sold you that gun on EE was upfront about that. The frame is essentially toast as I can not imagine how you could adequately pin the ejector with out the pin impinging into the magwell.

I'm reasonably certain that the guy I bought it from didn't know about the hole being mis-drilled. He didn't even realize that the ejector was missing. I'm sure it must've fallen out last time he had the slide off for cleaning. He's looking for it now. I guess I have to call Dlask on Monday and hope that he'll warranty it even though I'm not the original owner. The guy I bought it from bought it new in 2014.

I have a couple Dlask 1911, I could have a peek at mine for comparison if you want. It was me I would go back on the seller, let him go after Mr. Dlask. The gun looks to me like it needs a new frame and that means new serial number etc. etc. Doubt you will get warrantee for a second hand gun. Dlask sells 80% kits to build your own, or you could get a cheap Norinco and use the rest of your parts and have a decent gun if all else fails.

I bought a new Dlask Pro Plus a couple years ago. I'm not bragging up the brand at this point. My gun has always had issues. Dlask never even returned my calls or e-mails regarding the gun. I'm taking it out again this week for another go. These tight guns need a lot of rounds to break them in so the wise people will tell you. I'm at 600 rounds and if I use the right bullets and a different magazine that he gave me it will run almost perfect. I'm thinking part of the problem is the gun is SS and it needed a special grease to break it in and I used a different grease. This grease may be a little sticky when cold, I hope so anyway.

Update: I contacted Dlask, they told me their warranty only applies the original owner but this is a unique situation, so send them the gun. I sent it in 3 weeks ago and Yesterday I got it back with a brand new frame. Thanks Dlask for the great service. I'm not sure why it happened in the first place but all's well that ends well.

I would not pin the ejector, it is a pain in the ass to get the pin in and out and if you buy a new ejector you may have to file a relief in in it so the pin can go through the frame on the other end and hold the ejector in place

Frame has been replaced. Ejector is pinned like it should be. All is good.
