Where do you purchase ammo from (12GA) ?

Hi,

I have rifles, and pistols, but I'm new to the shotgun scene...

I've started looking for trap shooting and I'm trying to find a place where to purchase ammunition...

I am trying to purchase a "big" quantity like 500 or 1000 to save because all I'm finding is 1.00$-1.25$/shell which becomes very expensive when you decide to go out shooting for the afternoon...

Any Trap shooters ? Where do you purchase your ammo from ?

You are going to have to find a gun store or big box store like Canadian Tire that you can drive to.

Shipping shotgun shells, by the case, is quite expensive.
 
I buy challenger or winshester target loads from SAIL at 75$/250. There are a whole bunch of them around QC. Also , if you keep a eye out for Cabela's online sale, you can often pick them up for 65$ a case with free shipping (and only 5% sales tax). In fact they just had that sale around Black Friday

I've seen $60 a case (250 rds) for trap shooting shells at all sorts of major retailers and also during various special sales by some of the site sponsors.

It's all about catching the sale prices, you just missed black friday but there are some sales going on this weekend in the GVRD and boxing day is coming up.

A big problem is going to be shipping, these cases are heavy and shipping ammo is always a pain in the butt. Sometimes the shipping can be paid for by avoiding sales tax buying out of province. Keep an eye out for a good sale at one of your nearby stores or you can always try a price match.
 
I ended up at Canadian Tire

250 shells of Challenger (#7 1/2) (2 3/4) for 85$

Sometimes, I forget about buying local... Cheaper since no shipping...

Challenger shells are assembled in Montreal. I doubt that he would sell direct, but should be able to give you some distributors near you. You will have to Google their website as we are not allowed to post a link to make it easy for you on this website.
