1939 dated SVT-40

You have quite the svt collection! Congrats! I know almost nothing about these (go figure with a username like jbmauser:p) and I'm curious about the stock. Has it been sanded post war or is that just the way they look? Maybe part of the refurb process? It just seems to have a lot of rounded edges.
 
Your SVT that you are using for comparision has got an amazing stock too! Did it come with that black tiger striping?
What is that bolt thru the wrist of your new 1939, for? You included a picture of the front strap attachment, which one
is special, the two piece or the one piece?

Thanks again! Unfortunatly, my SVT has the square and looks like your 1941 date stamp area except that it is an Izhevsk. My sight ladder does not have
a groove running down the center though. I am quite happy with my SVT 40 it has the early strap swivel, early 12 port muzzle brake, telescope sight grooves
and an AVT stock. One day I will buckle down to learning how to deal with picture taking and posting and show it off.

Sanding is part of the refurb process. Originally most of the guns had a nice USSR cartouche and date on the stock.

Uncommon svt. Good grab for an SVT collection!
 
Is the general consensus that these are a very desireable collectible? I noticed they didn't make the cut on Horilka's collectible chart in the sticky. Sorry about the necro!!
