It could have been a return due to the bad batch of rifles that couldn't shoot straight. I would suggest you get a full refund and look at something else.

Either way the dealer needs to compensate you beyond replacement for your troubles. One thing to find mfr defect in a sealed box. Another for a "used" rifle to be sold as new; that is dealer error that is now causing the buyer headache.

I see one of two things have happened

1) you got the demo model
2) you got a previously returned product with the scope mount holes off center that someone tried to fix by remounting it and over tightening the screws.
either way, give them hell,

In most provinces you have 30 days to "inspect" a mail order product and return it for either a full refund or exchange if it is not as advertised. If this is sold as new, then you have to right to send it back.

Definitely seen more than the "factory test fire" if Savage actually does it?!? I know where you got it from since you posted about it on the sponsor's thread... Thrust me, they will make it right, I've dealt with them a lot and never had a single issue, always a satisfied customer.

Now, I personally would have go through them first and see if they are willing to resolve the issue in a satisfactory manner before thinking about posting here... don't forget that it's the Holidays and timely manners can take a little longer.

Wow, because a $10 am hour employee made a mistake? The dealership needs to get the issue fixed that's it that's all.

Nothing wrong with a little venting on the Internet.
- If I had been waiting for a new toy and got a used one, I'd be a little upset to.
- Years ago guys would have complained about it at the local tavern... the forum has kind of replaced them
- While I'm sure (or at least hope) it's an honest mistake... it's still a pretty big mistake for a business to make.
-- As in, do they keep track of their new/used/defect inventory? Do they no validate serial # before shipping?

If/when the seller makes it right, we can all have a group hug and sing his praise... If not... well... it will be hell to pay!

I see your point but I don't blame him for asking for opinions on here. He states it being his first NEW rifle purchase. I think he was just looking for some input. He didn't name the seller...no harm no foil in my mind.
Hopefully it all gets cleared up and he gets the new rifle he was hoping for.

I always had good service with them in the past. Thats why I was surprised with the situation. We'll see what they say. As I said I havent said the dealers name, neither even said it was their fault or said they are bad. Its not a flame post towards them.

I also think its a good thing to share this kind of situation as they happen to see if there is a pattern and eventually if the dealer has to make changes because it happens too often. We are talking about hundreds of dollars... It really sucks when it happens to you

Why post this now ? You want a bunch of us on the internet to say "it looks used" ? Why not wait till the dealer responds and then - if not satisfied - consider making this post because then, at that point, you would have something newsworthy to say.

Guy asked a reasonable question given his level of experience. Maybe you could answer his question given your level of experience rather than ragging on him.

So far they claim its factory testing wear. I call Bull####. I linked them this thread so they can see I'm not the only one with that opinion.

have you sent your photos to Savage and ask them is this proof of 'factory testing' ,since the dealer isnt playing ball?
i dont think Savage would want a dealer tarring their name.

This rifle came from us and was new in the box from the distributor....it even came on a new shipment a few weeks ago. Lots of 10Tar's have marks like this when new from being test fired. We don't sell used guns as new and you may want to mention you've been trying to find ways to return this gun even before it got there...unless I'm thinking of a different person.

I'm away until tomorrow and can email you then.

I never tried to return the rifle wtf?! I asked to be granted the christmas discount since the rifle was in the mail when it got out. I just want my god damned savage 10tr, and in good condition. I'll contact savage and see what they say about the wear.
Also it's the ####ing last time I'm dealing with you.

Well....that escalated quickly!
