Let's play "Do you think it's legit?":
1 - The only 5-25 scope produced by Zeiss is the Conquest HD5 5-25x50, which has a 1" tube. Zeiss has not produced a 30mm 5-25 mag scope to date.
2 - It appears that Zeiss could not fit "Carl Zeiss" onto the surface of the ocular, so those crafty Germans went with "CarlZeiss".
3 - Zeiss is now incorporating an illumination module into the left-side parallax knob in this new line of scopes. What's better is, the illumination is an undisclosed "bonus" feature! How nice!
4 - This new illumination/parallax knob is offset towards the objective side of the scope, because this provides an asthetically pleasing counterbalance to the windage knob, which is offset towards the ocular side of the scope.
5 - Aside from offering a 5-25x50mm, 30mm tube scope at the bargain price of $298.99, Zeiss is giving you even better value by including the following accessories: a beautifully crafted rubber bikini cover (complete with crumbled bits of shrimp cracker), a cantilevered, quick-detach, Burris PEPR knock-off with 1" inserts (the perfect mounting solution for a 5-25x50mm sniper-scope), an ARD-sunshade (because those other operators might see you!), AND a circular mystery grommet that looks like it has absolutely nothing to do with a rifle scope.
6 - Zeiss has chosen to incorporate the Rapid-Z 800 ballistic reticle in this scope. Unlike any other preceeding design, Zeiss has decided to put the name of the reticle used in the scope upon the scope ocular so as to avoid any mix-ups. Also, unlike any other preceeding design, the Rapid-Z 800 reticle used in this new 5-25x50mm has undergone a redesign and does away with the #7 and #8 subtension lines...because that's just too damn far.
7 - In another engineering feat of pure genius, Zeiss took into account the fact that most guys mount their scopes a tad counter-clockwise. Hence the clock-wise offset to the reticle will balance this out nicely...
8 - And finally, in a move that you will undoubtably see repeated by other manufacturers in their MoA adjustment designs (Schmidt Bender, Nightforce, Kahles, et al...take note) Zeiss has opted to present 1/4 MoA clicks within a scale increment of 10. That's correct! Rather than having the customary 4 clicks between numerical increments to represent the sum of four 1/4 MoA clicks equalling 1 full minute of angle, this scope gives shooters what they've long been asking for: something that makes no-f*cking sense! Need to dial 13.5 MoA? No problem! All you need to do is multiply 13.5 by 4, then divide by 10, then simply dial to 50.4 on the turret. Simple! Thank goodness you have that free sunshade-ARD making you harder to detect, thus giving you more time to do the math necessary to dial the correct adjustment! Zeiss has thought of everything!
