Sig Sauer won us army contract

this service side arms will go to the regular army guy's and gal's comes in diff shape sizes of hand , that's where modularity comes in makes everyone happy.

Right, but it's never that simple in the military. Soldiers don't get to pick and build their own weapons. Nor do they keep them when moving units. This all equates to extra work for the guys in the armory, who prioritize everything else before pistols.

wow....interesting they went against the flow since most special operation unit opted for glock....lol but sig is a good choice

Same.

I was largely surprised they went with the SIG after what happened with the FBI. Nice platform though.

Thing is you don;t have to. The US Army does, feels it is necessary and asked for it. Besides handing a guy or gal a pistol and asking them to shoot it well when their trigger finger can't reach the trigger makes no sense. Modularity solves that issue.

Take Care

Bob

Agreed, I certainly don't know the plan nor do I need to; I'm hopeful it works well and then we just copy what they do. It only solves the issue if the service bothers to fit guns to people, and as I stated before, pistols are the absolute last on an armourers list of priorities. Very few in the military are asked to shoot a pistol well btw. Last time I did a qual shoot was over five years ago; I shot fewer than 50 rds, maybe 70% on target, and was cleared to go out of country. Why? Because it's not important to my position, nor most others for that matter.

Good God. If you need a pistol that fits everyone, go back to the 1911!

I have heard rumors that the US is looking to resurrect the 7.62 NATO as it's MBR round. Go figure.

Maybe we will see FNs back in the CDN inventory.

I was sold on them when they first came out just cause I could swap grips if desired... the .45ACP is stock (aside from trigger), the 9x19 CARRY I turned into a COMPACT, sandblasted the slide (stainless steel) and added some Trijicon HD's + the apex trigger. Both are superbly accurate and pleasant to shoot.

A few add-ones / mods for the military version.

Modifications include:
Ambidextrous thumb safety
Loaded chamber indicator
Improved slide sub-assembly to capture small components when disassembled
Improved trigger "mud flap" to prevent foreign debris from entering the pistol action

The SIG P320 will be known as the XM17/M17 in U.S. Military service.

Just like the Beretta "beat" the SIG 226 the first time.... These trials have very little to do with the hardware and everything to do with greasing palms and kissing a$$es.

That has been refuted a thousand times. When Sig cried bloody murder a non biased third party investigated finding that there was nothing of the like.

The myths around Beretta seem endless and immortal.

@still alive
Yep. The "Carry" has the Pinocchio barrel... I bought one. I then bought the compact frame and mags afterwards.

I'm sorry to hear this feel bad for the troops.....thought the beretta would be the "go to" pistol what a shame

Sorry to hear this? You must have missed the part where they will be getting Sigs....They would be mourning with you, but they are too busy celebrating their new side arm.

As someone that owns a Glock, a Beretta and a Sig P320. The 320 fits great in hand, shoots amazing and has a great factory trigger. Plus, it takes less than a minute to swap frames, slides and barrels.

Great pistol. Would recommend to anyone.

Beretta is going to have to become a lot more competitive in their handgun lineup now that they don't have the U.S. DoD contract to carry them.
