Ultra lightweight hunting ?

Happy with the Kimber for a working man's rifle. 3 shots group nice at around 1-1/8" to 1" until the tube heats up....... For the price point, I don't know how else to get that weight, here she is with glass, sling & cartridges - could have done better on scope choice for the last few oz's but WTH!

that is nice. I see you also went with the lightest rings and a fairly lightweight scope . I wish there was a optics company that would make a good quality lightweight scope. With all the expense that goes into an ultralight mountain rifle it would be great to have some glass to match.

I currently have Talleys and a vx3 on my mountain rig.

^Not kind of touchy. Re-read my post. It's very polite in response.

No one get's to shove their standards down my throat.

The End.

Ok. But how does posting something on the internet shove anything down your throat? Why take offence to someone's opinion? Argue against it if you want, but there is no need to act like you've been personally insulted or attacked. Your standards can be your standards, and others can have different standards. Discussion forums are about discussion; searching for every possibility to tell us how offended you are by having something rammed down your throat is just silly.

Extreme example........ not your regular 22...... a stock 10/22 is five pounds..... and my 77/22 rsi is six pounds....... all heavier than than the kimber....... and that is before being scoped.......

The Kimber is kind of a Extreme too
I don't think Kimber is for everyone that is for sure and not so necessary wen packing ultralight equipment
My seek outside BT 2 fourseason tent just got delivered and it is only 1.4 lbs and is on the Extreme side too
the ultralight Kimber matched with ultralight equipment would be pretty awesome

Just sayin, but I have never owned a .22 that weighed less than 5 pounds..... and that is before scoping.......

Hi Brad, my son now 13 has a Remington Buckskin I gave him when he was 5. Its a Remington pump (early, mid 50s? ) . Its iron sighted. Like a super lite version of the Remington Fieldmaster 22.

I just put it on the scale and it comes out at 4.4 lb with trigger lock.

Oh and its crazy accurate but we don't let the barrel get hot.

I would think traditional archery hunters would realy benefit from ultralight gear
I keep looking at takedown longbows its bin over 30 years since I've shot a traditional bow mite have to take it up again

Go back to your own post where YOU first said game animals are not paper.

Not once did I ever say such words at all. So do not pretend I did so.

I find the hole concept quite amazing and would have never dreamed it would be possible to get a Basic kit down to 10 lbs
Wen I started I was hopping for 25 lor 30 lbs plus rifle but now realize I can do better it going to be interesting to see how it all play out in the Field

This is the pack I have bin using its ove 10 lbs empty !

After a successful sheep hunt this year (I was just along for the ride) I will be rethinking my Mt gear for the next go around. I have done lots of back packing mostly on the wet coast but for some reason I couldn't keep the weight down on the pack. Loosing the rifle would have made for a more enjoyable trip. So yea if I can shave a pound or ounce off the rifle and pack I'm doing it

The interesting part of this whole experience is I'm down to almost a 2/3 the waight
My standard hunting pack was about 40 lbs with out food or rifle

Now I'm I'm looking at 12 to 15 lbs for basic kit tent, pack, slepping bag,gas stove including food or rifle
Of course Like every thing in life nothing is free I'm sure I'm sacrificing some comfort for waight but wen climbing up or making miles in the bush I am willing to make sum sacrifices
Of course This is a work in progress and will continue to make improvements hear and there but got the Basic foundation for a grate ultralight hunting kit

Lightest rifle I found Ruger 7711 compact 16 in barrel but it kicks like a mule on bench.

What exactly is in your bag???

So fare hunting pack, tent, sleeping bag, stove ,life straw. ( Weight savings ove over 14 lbs so fare and still shaving lbs of my hunting gear)
still need a small cooking pot and clothing , sleeping pad
Wen its all said and dun I estimate complete loaded hunting pack shod be under 20lbs not including food or ass wipe

The rifle my old uncle Remington 7 in 300 wsm haven't put it on a scale yet

I have also been on a quest to lower pack weight. So far my shelter, sleep and cooking systems weigh just over 10 pounds altogether. I am still looking for a good light pack but my goal is to be at 20 pounds or less for a fully loaded pack. Not counting food or water.

I went with a thermarest evolite plus for a sleeping pad. Self inflating and rated 4 season. About a pound in weight so not in the ultralight category but it has the highest thickness to weight ratio on the market. If you are a side sleeper like me you will appreciate it.

They come a lot, lot lighter than that and having owned exactly that gun, they really are pussy cats in recoil. Any of the non magnums are, even the 5lb guns. It's a misconception about them kicking fiercely. I read that often and every time I shoot the 4lb 13oz Kimber and it feels... well like a .308 I wonder where this stuff starts.
