Thinking of trying IPSC....what is a good price for extra magazines for a CZ SP01 Shadow....found two locally for $49.99 but if buying 3 - 5 is there better pricing...having hard time finding

That's a good price. Paid very similar for mine which were Jericho Mags which happen to fit the CZ SP01 Shadow.

If you're going to be using them for IPSC, then the best ones to buy are the all metal MecGar 10 round dimpled mags. They can be found for $40-$50 each and are the most durable and reliable for the SP01. They're made even better if you add the MecGar +2 bases to them (they don't add rounds to the 10 round mags but act as a base pad and extension).

Slavex was not a fan of the Corwin Arms mags for IPSC use.

They are very well built, and the finish on them is durable as evidenced by the lack of wear from all the use. The baseplates have also stood up well to being dropped on a concrete floor, which is nice to see.
So, yes I would recommend these to people looking for a good mag at this price point.

They are made by Mec Gar but are not stamped as such, I bought 4 to have as spare and or practice mags but when they arrived they are the same as the others I have, and although Slavex had a couple hang up and not drop free during initial testing, I have not had that problem with these, although I have had that problem with a couple mecgar and factory mags in the past that needed to have the finish smoothed out with scotchbrite.

Thanks for pointing that out. I stand corrected as my comment was in reference to an earlier comment by Slavex prior to his review of the mags.

A few points, I don't know if these are made by Mec Gar or not but they way I read your post some might take it that they are identical and they are not identical to current Mec Gar mags, the followers and tubes both show some diffences. I think they are an awesome value and with the IMI Defense basepads you suggested I really like them and they will be my practice mags for the foreseeable future. I do wish they could have dimpled these in a way that allowed the follower to be removed when the mag is disassembled.

I had issues the first day I used them with one mag not dropping, turns out the follower was hanging up and not returning all the way to the top allowing a round to move forward and hang up when dropped. A disassembly and re-assembly seems to have corrected the issue so far.

They may not be the same as current mecgar mags but other than being stamped mecgar they are identical to the mecgar mags I have in my collection that I bought several years ago and like I said, although I have not had a problem with these dropping free, I have had that issue with mecgar as well as factory mags in the past. I would not think twice about using these as my primary mags for competition, in fact the ones I bought I have already switched the floor plates to rubber ones and are now in the mix with all my others.

So far testing dry with my shadow custom, they fall out like a hot knife thru butter.

I ordered my Mec-Gar mags off Brownells. Ordered 3 which kept it under $100CDN and $11US shipping. Worked out cheaper than buying local.

I ordered 6 from Brownells and shipping was $14.73, total with shipping was $164.67 USD, I wasn't home when delivered but I believe tax and CBSA fee added another $40 roughly.

Cheaper to have placed two separate orders a day apart and pay shipping twice. I've done that a number of times.
