Are Springfield m1a all that?

Im going to start this by saying I tried the Norinco M305 and I have no love for it, So its outta the question to get one.

Recently I read that even springfields may need work as well such as reindexing barrels? Is this correct or bull? I have accualy been browsing for a springfield I liked when I read this and it kinda put me off them.
 
I have a national match Springfield and have had zero issues . You do have to take reloading seriously with these and you want hard primers #34 CCI . But go to m14ca site they have good links to all info . Theirs lots of recommendations on function tests and flaw detection . I recommend a case length gauge and #34 CCI primers with 4895 and small base sizer ( with my NM anyway) ammo is the concern as factory ammo has issues with soft primers and chambering and reloading does take extra care

it's not bull ..... there are lemons in every bowl of oranges as far as springfield is concerned, real sour ones considering the price tag.
if you want American made quality that is available in Canada , JRA or LRB .... there's no bull there period.

Would bulk steel case like MSF or barnaul brand have the same issues? What exactly would be the concerns in a old grand?

I hear the SVT-40 is the same with commercial ammo and soft primers.

I won't use Barnaul or MFS in my Springfield NM m1a, I also have a good one, but have seen at least one total lemon. I concur with a previous poster on the small base die, and case gauge. I don't use cci #34's and have had no issues. Take your time, and be careful and regular cci's have worked fine for me, just make sure to seat below the case.

Im looking at the LRB on account the scope mounts are forged right to the reciever... any thoughts are welcome
 
I like mine .
Just wish they darkened the stainless NM barrel & had a bayonet lug on the F/H

M14's & M1A receivers have the provision for the scope mount . There are several different types of mounts you can use .
I have a Springfield Armory 4th generation mount for this gun . If you are interested in a Springfield armory M1A go to their web site & check out the different models of M1A's they produce to see the different features & configurations that are available.

I think he means the LRM M25 with the built in dovetails for an optics rail.

im not interested in a SA at all
 
I have a heavy bbl NM and yes I love it yes you have to handload to get the best out of it, yes it shoots cheep surplus norc fantastically aswell
