Why do I all of sudden want a glock???

So for the past few years I've gone through a few pistols. To be specific
grand power k100 and Excalibur
a few different 1911 models
Cz sp01 shadow

Now obviously the shadow was my favourite of them all by reason of the light trigger, forward weight/all steel construction and general ergonomics.
I've always hated the look of glocks and cannot truly pin point for what reason. Perhaps the lack of a hammer, perhaps the thought of that trigger safety, or the bulky grip.
But the other day I found myself really craving to put a few rounds through one.

My questions are as follows:
I know they're on the lighter side, but are they snappy or well balanced?
is changing out the trigger connector enough to lower the pull weight to a better feel?
What do people say about general ergonomics?
Also any input about lefty friendliness is appreciated.

nothing special to me. they have light recoil in 9mm. the only problem was i kept getting hit in the face with brass. i would not buy another one unless it was very cheap. i like big full size guns myself. i think it comes down to what do you want it for?
 
I've owned 3. (Years ago) Ergonomics were great. I found it much better than the 1911 and Beretta 92 that way. The double column 45 had a grip diameter like a 9mm Berreta 92. Sits low in hand, I found them less "flippy". Trigger was "meh". Buy used, shoot, keep or sell based on your experience.
 
Compared to a Shadow, you will find the Glock "snappy".

I don't because I have grown to like the grip angle which I find aids in control, but the Glock will feel a lot snappier than a Shadow.

Put in a reduced connector and see how you like it. You can keep changing springs till you get what you like, easily done and quite cheap to experiment with.

If you are a lefty, go for the Gen 4.
 
No collection is complete without at least one plastic gun. Biggest drawback of a Glock, that I find, is it's light weight. Doesn't take much to get used to the trigger.
 
I went through the same thing. I hated Glocks with a passion growing up and when I first started getting into guns. My first pistols, bought at the same time, were a CZ-SP01 Tactical and a SA 1911. I eventually sold the 1911, bought and sold a CZ Phantom, and M&P9. Then I fell for the Glock 17 RTF2s...hard. They've been my favourite pistols for the last 10 years now. Got to shoot a friends Shadow 2 the other day, it was great, but my G17 is still my favourite and if I could have only one, that would be it.
 
We all go through the same thing. We go through models, good lookers, fitness instructors, eventually, we marry a housewife we fall in love with.
Don't get me wrong I still look at USP, Springfields, Sigs or Pardinis, but I always come back to Glock.

Glocks work, get the job done. Are easy to handle and clean. Easy to upgrade yourself.
Hand polish all the trigger parts and shoot it!!! I only need to shoot 115gr 9mm to make nice holes in paper :)

I also was married to CZ, Sig and 1911 for a long time. Triggers were great, recoil was great.
I shoot 115gr which does not recoil much. The triggers are smooth in MY Glocks.

I used to shoot PPC with my Glock, and I was beating guys with $3K guns.
People could not believe I could consistently get 570+/600 on PPC short course.

Work on your grip, trigger, you'll shoot it better than CZ or Sig.

I have small hands and Glocks fit them like gloves.
 
Dive in you'll enjoy the trip...they ain't pretty (except to the fans) but they are very good shooters...
 
But beware that you might end up spend more in the upgrades because they are just so easily found everywhere. Yeah it is all THEIR fault making them available...

Yes they are not the best looking gun but look only matters when you are not shooting it.. think about that.
