Another fine HK firearm for our government to mark restricted. The G36 conversion still seems to be the way to go for a non restricted HK rifle. In fact the SL8 is the only HK firearm that I can think of that is non restricted. This being said the G28Z deserves a look as it meets the requirements of the 3 gun He-man division of which I am now shooting an HK USC.

From the factory the USC is restricted due to barrel length. But there are after market barrels available in a Nonrestricted length 18.5+"

Does any one know the difference between the G28 and G28-Z. Steel receiver? Over the beach capable (OTB)? Toolless gas regulator for suppressed fire?

Different gas regulator on this than g28. Apparently everything else is identical.

It will be interesting to see if the German Government has decided to let HK sell a G28 to civilians with only the gas regulator changed or did they just rename the MR308-A3 G28 clone to G28Z

It passes their legal ruling. Also can be converted to fill g28 specs if you purchase the standard g28 gas block. Which won't be cheap but theres a few floating around
