The mags are not going to be any different. The damn followers on the 10 round mags are to deep and they bottom out. They will not improve with usage. Just take the follower out and use a Dremel on the bottom of the followers. I know I had to take quite a bit off before I could get the newer 10 rounders to work. For matches I only use my blued mags. The painted ones I keep for practice.

Nice target by the way.

looks like a Malibu Stacey to me.

:) :) :)

Kidding, not a fan of the platform but looks certainly better than the original. I think those windows over the light attachment are just silly (HERE LOOK! WE PUT METAL THERE TOO! is what they are trying to say and it adds nothing to the design I believe?

Also, they removed the auto forward function correct? in other words the slide does not go forward when a fresh mag is inserted? This blows my mind and I can't understand the folks that complain about this being a flaw... in my opinion, It is the best thing that can happen in a combat gun.

anyway
Enjoy !

Quick range report...
- Magazine - I know they'll loosen up with use but >>> I was unable to load all 10 rounds, even with a UpLULA.

FAIL.....IMHO...I've owned a number of fine (new) pistols and all have been able to take the advertised cartridges in the magazine. This is a fail and should not have left the factory. QC issues perhaps??

Does it state in the owners manual that 'over time' you may be able to load your magazines to the advertised capacity?
I doubt it....

Thanks for the candid and honest report.

Less than ideal...

I agree with that for sure. Seems like a "feature" that would benefit this gun type. Quicker reloading.
The change could well have been driven by the safety gods. Someone, somewhere sh!t the bed using the old design.

Are these not originally 17 round magazines? Wouldn't/shouldn't that make them that much easier to load? Am I missing something? I realize they're limited to 10 now.

As mentioned they are factory 10 round mags. The mag tube is cut short and a polymer base is added.

The problem with the newer 10 rd mags has been discussed more than once here. The followers S&W went to with the painted mags bottom out before the 10th rd . The only solution I and others have found is to dremel down the bottom of the followers until you can seat the 10th round. Lots of folks have complained to S&W and it seems either they are not concerned or they have a ton of the followers and they work in their 17 round mags. I was surprised to read they still have not fixed the issue.

You can load the mags until the cows come home and nothing is going to change. The issue is with the follower not the springs.

I guess once OP is bored with the trigger, the next thing to do is to swap it out with an Apex flat faced. They have it in color purple now. :p

I hate how they gotta put " caution capable of firing with magazine removed" in white lettering.....ill be blanking that out right away when I get mine

Nice review it's much appreciated!

Is there actually pistols out there that cannot fire without the magazine in ?
