Norinco 7.62x39 M14s available for order!!

Interesting, but I'm sure I understand the excitement for it. It seems like a cross between the sks and the m14. Both are proven platforms, but this rifle seems to take the cons of both:
It wont be as accurate as the m14
It wont shoot as far as the m14
It will be heavier than the sks
It will be bigger than the sks
You can buy a sks and m305 for the same price. Or an AR in x39.
Sure the ammo is cheaper, but you're looking at around 500 rounds before the you break even (compared to m305). Double that number if norinco 7.62 nato shows up again.
The only advantage i see is the lack of recoil die to the low power round, and the weight of the rifle. Hummm, it would probably be really fun to shoot.... ok i understand now.

Well that's very neat - should blow the mini-30 out of the water!

Not sure about that, don't forget Norcs aren't known for great quality control, fit and finish Spotty? Wonder how much the guy who built it took home to his family that Week?

I've gone through this much ammo on one afternoon with a couple of friends more than once.

The big advantage for some of us is simply that it uses an existing caliber from my gun room.
I promised myself a few years ago to not add any more calibers to my pile of ammo.

I only buy guns in a caliber that I already shoot.
This gun fits that bill.

Meh.
Sticking to my M305 in 7.62 NATO personally. Especially with my Enfield mags now....
That being said if I was debating a 7.62x39 semi auto right now and looking at this for $1K, I'd probably just get an SKS D.
Smaller, lighter, still 5 round limit and a lot cheaper.

not slagging any of you guys that want one, but it seems wrong to have an iconic american cold-war battle rifle in a russian caliber. just doesn't sit right.

Awesome, eh?

On the political side of things;

I'm really glad this rifle is filling the hole, with CZ-858s no longer coming into the country.

I might buy one, purely out of spite.

I like the idea of the calibre but that mag in a M1A just looks incongruous to me.

If it does in fact take AK mags, maybe gets some 5/10 Magpul AK mags. Nice and small, not too much curvature to them.
Yep, good to see another x39 rifle available.
