Black bear caliber

I love this set up, I may steal your idea.....

I think that there bear needs a 35 Rem, didn't you just get one of those Jay?

Sure did! Busted a bear with it the first year I had it. LOVE the caliber!

WRT the set up for baiting. Use corn or dog food in the barrel. Then smear whatever you want on the outside, bacon fat maybe? Anyhow, the bears learn to turn the barrel & the food drops out! Keeps the smaller critters away from the food to!

Cheers

35 Whelen Nosler M48 Outfitter with an Elite 6500 1..25-8x32 on it in Leupold QD rings. Wicked setup.

Wow nice rifle
The reason i start this thread is because i receive tax money and i just sell my 270 seem like a 45-70 is a populair choice ?

Also notice how important it is to find two trees that the barrel JUST fits between... That bear is trying to dislodge the barrel...

Never did see that brute in person, otherwise I would have VENTILATED him!

Chuckle!

Jay: your bear medecine should be your 375hh ...

Marlin 1895 the 22 inch like the 336
The GG is nice and beatiful but im affraid of to much recoil

Those Marlins are nice rifles. I'm going to get a new 1895.

With factory loads like PRVI ammo which is a 405gr bullet at about 1350 fps recoil isn't bad. With the same bullet at about 600 fps faster recoil is a bit more. ;)

Did someone say 'too much recoil'???

I guess I could use this 50BMG rifle with a 750 grain Hornady AMAX on bear?

Dad used a 'real' Marlin (JM) 336C in 35 Remington for just about all his big game hunting from his mid 50s on when he retired the win 94 30-30 to a spot on the wall because he needed a scope to supplement his old eyes.
Never had one get away and any he shot when I was with him were 1-shot kills.
Many a deer and moose dropped to that gun as well.

GREAT choice! Love my 35 Rem as well, it's my deer rifle for next year!

Cabelas here in Ottawa has the 35 Rem ammo, as does Stittsville Range and That Hunting & Fishing Store.

35 Rem is not 'common', but it is not hard to find.
