Showoff your SHORTY 12G SHOTTY (14" or under and Mods)!

Cool rule but non-lethal loads will not happening with this orange stocked 870 12 gauge = this is for camp/bush/prospecting defence so will be loaded with slugs and OO Buck.

Had it on the seat with me when we were turned around by the RCMP last weekend when the shooter shot the hiker up the Chilliwack Valley and its a way better looking setup than the pic shows.

I just wished Magpul made an orange Hunter 700 stock I would have installed it onto my stainless Rem 700 VTR in 223 instead of one in OD green.

Well... usually orange on any firearm denotes less-lethal. That's why BB guns, toy guns, airsoft use orange muzzles for example. It's a colour with a purpose not just to look cool.

Blue means for training purposes.

That's nice I'll try and explain the intended purpose for this shotgun.

I bought and installed them so we could put the shotgun down while we are in camp, in the bush or on the river so we can instantly see it when/if it is needed in other words I couldn't care less what the normal use of orange is.

I had debated using orange stock and forend on one of my builds too.

I think the orange is less lethal thing is known to us gun nuts but maybe not as much to the general public.

I like that you can sit and orange gun down and find it again in a hurry if need be. Your logic seems solid to me...

I'm starting to realise that some of you guys don't understand remote wilderness areas = this gun will be used in the bush not at gun clubs it is a tool for a specific purpose which is the defence of our lives and the lives of others and of course lots of plinking so it is irrelevant to everyone except a very select few and I guarantee they don't care either what colour the stocks are other than they will find the gun when they need it.

It's hard to foresee the things that go sideways when you're neck deep in green sh*t, on a steep, wet slope, in crappy weather, freezing your nads off with a furry creature eyeing you for breakfast - orange is good in my books.

Rem 870 12 gauge Orange Magpul SGA stock/forend

Bought this shotgun appr 35 years ago its gone thru a few changes over those years most recently I installed the following components.

Magpul SGA Orange butt stock and forend
Dlask Arms Corp 14" IC barrel
Dlask Arms Corp squiggly smile barrel nut
Cadle Ridge butt stock shell holder
Fenix tactical light mount
Fenix 1000 lumen PD35 flashlight
Picatinny rail installed by Dlask Arms
XS Sights low Weaver backup ghost ring sight
Leupold 1x lighted reticle Prismatic scope

Didn't buy all this stuff at the same time been putting it together over the last 10 years its now done except I would like to thread the barrel so I can install interchangeable chokes.

One more thing you might want to consider is a +1 mag extension. It will end flush with the end of the muzzle on that 14" barrel and most of them come with a sling plate as well.

I spend quite a bit of time in a similar region and know EXACTLY why you built your SG this way Camp Cook.

Indeed, it's one of those "you don't know what you don't know" things. Bear defense etc. is a very real thing, not an internet debate. Once you experience a bear charging at you at 2:30 am in the dark (or any time for that matter) and it's close enough & fast enough to be lucky getting one shot off, you get an entirely different perspective than forum speculation.

Nice looking functional build.

I'm guessing you might not have added a +1 mag extension to save a bit of weight ?

No nothing to do with weight.

I didn't add one for two reasons...

First its because I have a super cool Dlask Arms squiggly smilie face nut installed.

Second I don't have a plus one extension yet and not sure if I want one.

I've looked around but haven't seen one to buy = I can put four 2 3/4 shells in the mag tube and one in the chamber = I can't see much of a reason to add another round but you never know I may have to get one just because... :)

I have a Magpul SGA sling mount between the receiver and butt stock and my sling is a black Magpul MS3 Multi-Mission sling so I don't need a sling attachment.

Benelli M4, 14" barrel, straight stock. Just had it cerakoted magpul FDE by Black Box with some select parts left black to add contrast.
