Easy alternative to Photobucket

I was cruising around trying to figure out the best place to put this...

Like most guys I've been getting super disgusted with how slow and clunky photobucket is getting with all its ads etc. I tried 3 of the popular alternatives but didn't like any of them. This summer the sd card in my phone fried itself and I lost a years photos so I started looking for a good backup system. I had previously used photobucket but even 3 years ago it was super slow.

Some of the easier sites have no way to get a pic to show in a Forum Post, but I searched and found a simple work around with Google Photos. It's so simple the photos are pretty much sized for a forum and its a 2 click process.

To start get google photos....upload your photos...click on one of your photos to view it....then

Right click, select "copy image address"

In your forum post click the insert img icon and then right click and paste...DONE

The link is crazy long but don't let that bother you. Do it a couple times and you'll find it's way easier and faster the Photobucket

I hope this helps lower the frustration levels and maybe even gets more photos where they count on the EE etc

I have started using the Photobucket app on my phone. That way, when I take pics with my phone, i can upload it straight to photobucket. I can also get the IMG url from the app if I'm on my phone (although I find it easier to do on a PC if Im posting multiple images).

Interesting that Google Photos works too though. My phone automatically backs up everything to google photos, so maybe I"ll give it a try.
 
I tried imgur and flickr they're OK I didn't like that I couldn't embed a photo with flickr

to embed click on a pic in your album then when its the only pic on the screen right click and copy image address, then place in your post between the image limiters


or click the embed icon in the toolbar when writing your post

I clicked on the link by purple shoulder...then I clicked on the photo so it was full screen, right clicked and copied the image address

And the CGN direct load option does not work well for me... on my phone in lightweight mode... to load this pic, I had to switch to full version.

Lol. Was there supposed to be a photo in that post?

Your solution might need to go back to the drawing board ;-)
 
Just join team gunnutz and get it over with. You just have to watch the size of your pictures. I had to dumb down my camera a bit
 
Kodiak...Yes, I moved it to a "shared album". My repost of Purple Shoulder's pic of a bullet hole in steel worked because he "shared" it first. OK so not the simplest but still much faster than Photobucket. I could probably see the pics because I'm signed into my google account and browsing on chrome.

Supporting the forum is great but most forums don't want you to hot link to other sites. I post pics on several sites so having an album on one or another wont cover all the bases for me.
